PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Florida women's tennis standout
Carlota Verdu was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Third Team on Tuesday.
Verdu holds a 3.72 cumulative grade point average as a senior majoring in construction management. This is her second consecutive CSC Academic All-America honor, as she was named to the third team last year as well.
On the court, Verdu played at the No. 1 position in singles and doubles throughout the 2026 season. She posted a 12-11 singles record and added a 15-9 doubles mark alongside
Sandra Recuenco, with the duo also competing at court one. Verdu finished the year ranked No. 5 nationally in singles and was part of the No. 7 doubles pair in the country with Recuenco, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Verdu helped lead the Argonauts to one of the program's most successful seasons in recent memory, as UWF finished 23-5 and captured the GSC Championship for the first time since 2018. The Argos also advanced to the NCAA South Regional in their final season competing at the Division II level.
