DELAND, Fla. — West Florida lost to Stetson 2-0 on Saturday. West Florida finished with six shots, two on goal, while facing 15 shots and making six saves.
First Half

Tomas Valles Gilbert saved Israel Daniels' shot at 8:29 before
Rafael Esteves put West Florida's first shot on goal at 10:44, with Murillo Mello making the save.
- The match stayed 0-0 through a physical stretch that included seven fouls from 14:30 to 22:03, then Stetson moved ahead 1-0 at 24:09 when Afonso Conde scored off assists from Matthew Perez and Junior Essengue.
- Gilbert made another save on Conde at 32:39, and West Florida added corner kicks at 33:58 and 40:46 before
Nikolas Rodriguez Alzate shot wide at 43:12 as Stetson took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Second Half
- West Florida opened the half with corner kicks at 45:22 and 48:51 before Stetson put together a stretch with multiple corners and shots, including two saves by Valles Gilbert.
- Stetson made it 2-0 at 61:04 when Matthew Perez scored off an assist from Zsombor Pall.
- West Florida pushed back with a
Jonas Grauer shot, corner kicks at 64:04 and 68:57, and a
Dane Christiansen shot, while Valles Gilbert added saves on attempts by Afonso Conde and Benjamin Donato.
- The final 19 minutes featured a foul-heavy stretch, one late West Florida corner and two off-target Stetson shots, and Stetson finished with a 2-0 win.
Valles Gilbert recorded six saves over 90 minutes in goal. Esteves led West Florida with two shots and put one attempt on goal.
West Florida is 1-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play. Stetson is 1-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
