CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — West Florida fell to North Carolina 2-0 on Wednesday. West Florida was outshot 17-7, including 10-2 in the second half, while making five saves.
First Half
- West Florida generated early looks from
Andrey Gentil and
Adrian Rodriguez before
Dane Christiansen put a shot on frame at 11:16 that Alan Rutkowski saved.
- The match stayed 0-0 through a physical middle stretch that included fouls by both sides and a Gentil yellow card; North Carolina also had shots from Joschi Schelb and Luca Nikolai and earned a corner at 27:45 without scoring.
- North Carolina broke through at 32:26 when Faraji Ramani scored off a Joschi Schelb assist, then added two corners and a Nick Lockermann shot that
Tomas Valles Gilbert saved at 40:51 to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Second Half
- With West Florida down 1-0, Valles Gilbert saved an Evans Dapaah shot at 50:45 as North Carolina generated an early corner, two shots and another corner in the opening minutes of the half.
- North Carolina added to its lead at 58:12 when Joschi Schelb scored off a Luca Nikolai assist to make it 2-0.
- Valles Gilbert made three more saves between 61:55 and 65:18 as North Carolina generated four shots and three corners during a sustained stretch.

Nikolas Rodriguez Alzate put West Florida's late shot on frame at 78:32, but Alan Rutkowski saved it, and North Carolina finished the 2-0 result.
Valles Gilbert finished with five saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
Felipe Lawall led West Florida with three shots.
West Florida is 2-6-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play. North Carolina is 4-2-3 overall and 0-1-2 in conference play.
