PENSACOLA, Fla. - UWF middle blocker Delaney Hanowell was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 8, 2026, the conference announced Tuesday.
 
Hanowell becomes the first student-athlete in program history to earn an ASUN weekly honor while securing both awards following a dominant weekend at the Big South Tournament in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
 
The Tallahassee native helped UWF earn three victories and improve to 5-0 in its first Division I season. Hanowell totaled 30 kills, 25 blocks and 45 points across 10 sets while hitting .453. She averaged 3.00 kills, 2.50 blocks and 4.50 points per set as the Argonauts won nine of their 10 sets.
 
Hanowell opened the weekend with nine kills, eight blocks and 13.5 points in a sweep over Alabama State. She committed no attacking errors on 13 swings and finished with a .692 hitting percentage.
 
She followed with five kills and seven blocks as UWF swept UNC Wilmington, before closing the weekend with her strongest performance against host USC Upstate. Hanowell recorded 16 kills, 10 blocks and 22.5 points while hitting .414 in the Argonauts' four-set victory over the Spartans.
 
The redshirt junior recorded at least seven blocks in each of UWF's three matches and did not commit a block error during the weekend. Her five solo blocks and 20 block assists helped the Argonauts collect 35 team blocks and hold their opponents to a combined .087 hitting percentage.
 
The awards are the first ASUN Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors of Hanowell's career.
