Kyle Brown

Kyle Brown began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at West Florida in 2011 after a successful four-year career as a second baseman for the Argonauts. He became an assistant coach in 2013 and later promoted to assistant head coach.. Entering his 11th year with the program, Brown holds a 309-156 career record.

In 2023, the Argonauts had one of the program's best seasons, finishing with 39 victories on their way to earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament as they hosted a regional for the second time in three seasons and third overall. UWF was the most dominant team in the Gulf South Conference, going 22-8 in league play while sweeping the regular-season and tournament titles. 

In 2023, he assisted Jeffcoat and the program to a highly decorated season, including an All-America honor, six All-Region selections and eight All-Conference honorees. 

Brown led the team to a pair of GSC Tournament Championships (2021 & 2023), 11 consecutive GSC Tournament appearances and seven 30-win seasons in ten completed seasons. 

In terms of individual recognition since Brown joined the coaching staff, UWF has earned 56 All-GSC selections,48 All-Region honorees and five All-American nods.

Brown played an integral part in the Argonauts’ 2007 Gulf South Conference championship, the first conference title in school history.  He was also a leader of the 2010 team’s run to the GSC East Division championship and an at-large berth to the NCAA South Regional.

The Gulf Breeze, Fla. native posted a .320 career batting average with 111 runs scored and 61 RBIs in four years at UWF.  As a second baseman, he also clubbed 35 doubles and stole 25 bases.  Brown’s best season came as a senior, when he led the team with a .375 average and earned All-GSC and All-South Region first team honors.

Brown was also a dependable defensive player at second, finishing with a .961 fielding percentage and just 30 errors in four seasons.  As a senior in 2010, he was honored for his defense and earned a spot on the Gold Glove South Region Team.

In the summer of 2010, Brown signed on to play with the Pensacola Pelicans, an independent minor league team in the American Association. In 58 games with the Pelicans, Brown hit .250 with a .364 on-base percentage. He also scored 27 runs while driving in 15.
