Tyler Welch is in his first season at UWF in 2023-24 as an assistant coach.
Welch spent the three previous seasons at Navarre High School in Navarre, FL working under head coach Terry Posey. In his first year he served as the Freshman coach and the next two years he served as the Junior Varsity and Varsity assistant coach. Outside of on-floor coaching, additionally Welch spearheaded fundraising efforts, created in-depth scouting reports, and managed social media during his time at Navarre.
During the summers, Coach Welch was the head coach of NBC and Nav-City Elite, both 17u travel teams who played from Panama City, FL to Mobile, AL in tournament play.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Accounting from UWF in 2019 and added an MBA in 2022. During his undergrad years, he was a team manager for the UWF women's basketball program.
"We are excited about Tyler Welch becoming a part of our basketball program," Burkhamer said. "Tyler is an energetic, ambitious and enthusiastic young coach. He will be involved with the individual development of our players, recruiting, team travel, film breakdown and academics.
Welch is a Panhandle Florida native and has and always will be an Argo.
