Biography

Career: Keith Savage was a key performer for the West Florida men’s soccer team during one of its most successful periods, helping lead the Argonauts to Gulf South Conference championships in 2003, 2006, and 2007. Savage was a first team All-American in 2006 during the Argonauts’ NCAA semifinals run, and he was also a three-time All-South Region and All-Gulf South Conference selection.  The attacking midfielder finished his career ranked third in school history with 47 goals, first in assists with 25, and second in points in 119.  Through the 2009 season, he also ranks fifth in GSC history in goals and third in points.

In January 2008, Savage was drafted by Chivas USA as the team’s first pick in the Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft.  The Gulf Breeze, Fla. native played in six matches and made three starts for Chivas USA during his rookie season, notching his only assist in his professional debut in a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Crew on April 12.  After being released by Chivas, he was picked up by the Portland Timbers of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) First Division, where he played 30 games (17 starts) in 2009 with three goals with two assists.  Portland will be one of two expansion teams entering the MLS in 2011, along with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

2007: Started all 20 games in his senior season, ranking second on the team with 14 goals, nine assists, 37 points, and five game-winning goals ... NSCAA/adidas All-South Region first team ... became the second player in school history and the ninth in conference history to earn a third selection to the All-GSC first team ... named to the GSC All-Tournament Team for the second year in a row after helping lead UWF to a second straight GSC title ... two-time GSC Player of the Week (8/28, 10/2) ... posted a hat trick with three goals in a 9-1 win over Georgia Southwestern (8/26) ... scored goals in four straight games from 9/14 to 9/30, combining for 13 points over that span ... scored two goals in a GSC game on the road at Alabama-Huntsville (10/12) ... earned his second selection to the GSC All-Academic Team

2006: Saw action in 19 games, including 17 starts, in the Argonauts’ record-setting 2006 season ... ranked second on the team with 11 goals and added six assists for 28 total points ... one of two Argonauts to earn NSCAA/adidas All-America honors, as Savage was named to the first team and Felipe Lawall to the second team ... earned his second NSCAA/adidas All-South Region honor ... named to the inaugural Daktronics All-South Region second team ... All-GSC first team selection ... named Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA South Regional after leading the Argonauts to victories over Montevallo and Lynn ... named to the GSC All-Tournament Team, including a two-goal, two-assist performance in a 4-1 win over Montevallo in the finals (10/29) ... missed five matches in September due to injury, but tallied the game-winning goal in his first game back against Christian Brothers (10/1) ... scored goals in four consecutive games from 10/8 to 10/15 ... had at least one point in all four of the Argos’ NCAA postseason matches, including goals in the quarterfinals versus Queens (N.C.) (11/11) and the semifinals against Dowling (11/16) ... GSC All-Academic Team selection.

2005: Played in and started all 16 games, leading the team with 10 goals, seven assists, and 27 points ... named to the NSCAA/adidas All-South Region second team ... earned his first All-GSC first team selection ... scored goals in each of the first three games and scored six in the first games ... notched a hat trick against Spring Hill (9/16) ... scored once and assisted once in a GSC win at Ouachita Baptist (9/23) ... assisted on three goals against Delta State (10/21) ... named to the GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2004: Started all three matches in the Argonauts’ shortened season due to Hurricane Ivan ... collected a season high six-shots on goal against Saint Leo (9/12).

2003: Had an excellent freshman season, playing in all 20 games and starting 17 ... ranked third on the team with 12 goals and added three assists for 27 points ... became the second Argonaut to be named GSC Freshman of the Year ... ranked fifth in the conference in goals and points per game (1.35) ... scored his first career goal, and first hat trick, in a three-goal performance against Florida Southern (9/7) ... named GSC Player of the Week after scoring two goals against Christian Brothers (10/3) ... notched a goal and an assist in UWF’s GSC championship game win over Montevallo (10/24).

Premier Development League: Collected seven points (three goals, one assist) in 10 matches for the Central Florida Kraze in 2006 ... once named to the PDL Week Six Team of the Week.

High School: Was a four-year starter and earned four letters at Gulf Breeze High School under his father, head coach Bruce Savage ... named to the 2003 Pensacola News Journal All-Area Team ... scored 51 goals and 99 assists in his career ... netted nine game-winning goals and added six game-winning assists in his senior year ... totaled 33 goals and 37 assists in his senior season ... played for the Pensacola Revolution club team and led the team to two state final four appearances ... earned three letters in golf.

Personal: Son of Angel and Bruce Savage ... his father played soccer at Miami-Dade North Junior College ... his mother played softball at Pensacola Junior College and softball and volleyball for Auburn ... his sister, Summer, also played soccer at West Florida ... his grandfather played football for Florida State ... majoring in Physical Education ... acted as a volunteer for his parents' ESE summer soccer camp, as well as several other soccer camps.
