PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's soccer team will visit Spring Hill College on Friday afternoon, as the Argos complete its regular season schedule. West Florida is coming off a thrilling 2-1 double overtime victory over Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College on Sunday and currently stand at 9-5 overall and 3-5 in the GSC. The win on Sunday snapped an unlucky three game skid, as the three loses prior to Sunday's victory were all decided in overtime or the last 10 minutes of regulation.

Playoff Implications
If West Florida defeats Spring Hill on Friday, UWF would secure its 10th consecutive GSC tournament berth. The 10 consecutive tournament appearances would be tied for the second-longest streak in GSC tournament history, as Christian Brothers recently clinched its 11th straight tournament appearance. Montevallo, a former member of the GSC, is the only other school in the conference's history to have 10 consecutive appearances.

If the Argonauts were to fight to a draw against the Badgers, it would need a loss or tie from Union as the Bulldogs battle Christian Brothers on Friday night at home. UWF would be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss against Spring Hill.

Oliveira's Dynamic Weekend
Senior Felipe Oliveira (Kissimmee, Fla./Gateway HS) received  GSC Player of the Week recognition earlier this week. The honor marks as the fourth time in Oliveira's four-year career that he has garnered the award and the first of his senior campaign.

Oliveira lifted the Argos past Mississippi College on Sunday, as he netted the game-winning goal in double overtime and secured the 2-1 victory. Junior Marteinn Urbancic (Reykjavik, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland) came through in the clutch as well, as he recorded the game-tying goal with just 6:40 remaining in regulation. Oliveira also recorded an assist in a setback against Delta State last Friday. Oliveira's goal on Sunday also moved him to ninth all-time in career goals in UWF men's soccer history, as his 26th tally moved him past Jon Stefansson on the all-time rankings.

Backline focus
For a majority of this season, West Florida has owned the best goals against average in the Gulf South Conference. The Argos currently own a GSC-best five shutouts on the season, as it has been able to keep Southern Nazarene, Spring Hill, Mobile, Shorter and Concordia off the scoreboard. UWF has conceded an average of 1.14 goals per game, a mark that still stands as the best in the league and 51st in NCAA Division II.

Goalkeeper Andre Moreira (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Colegio de A a Z) sits second in the GSC in goals against average at 1.22, while his save percentage of .744 is good for fifth in the league. Jacob Murray (West Palm Beach, Fla./Seminole Ridge HS) has also seen time in net, owning a 0.95 goals against average and .647 save percentage.

Freshman Michael Starkey (Huddersfield, England/Newsome HS), junior Japhet Bitsindou (Fontenay sous bois, France/Ecole des Merlus) and senior Soren Yuhaschek (Orlando, Fla./Freedom HS) lead the team in minutes played and have played all their minutes on the back row preventing opposing attacks.

Last Time Out vs. Spring Hill
West Florida and Spring Hill both were not able to score in regulation when the two teams met up on Sept. 17 in Pensacola. Marteinn Urbancic eventually netted the game-winning tally 26 seconds into the second overtime period, giving the Argos the win and pushing its record to 4-0. West Florida outshot Spring Hill 22-5, while also holding an advantage in corners, 5-3. Jacob Murray posted a shutout and stopped the one and only shot on goal the Badgers recorded.
Scouting Spring Hill
The Argos are 24-0-1 all-time against the Badgers, as UWF is set to visit Spring Hill for the first time since 2010. West Florida averages a league-best 6.86 shots on goal per game, while Spring Hill dwells at the bottom in the statistic averaging 4.29. Spring Hill averages 0.71 goals per game while allowing 1.79.

Spring Hill won its first GSC match of the season on Sunday, as the Badgers took down Delta State 1-0. The Badgers are 3-11 on the year with a 1-7 conference record and lost eight consecutive games prior to its win against DSU. SHC is 2-6 when playing at home in 2015.

Andrew McInnis is the leading goal scorer for the Badgers, as the senior has tallied four during the 2015 campaign. Will Carpenter has patrolled the Badgers net and owns a 1.88 goals against average, a .742 save percentage and a 2-10 record.
