PENSACOLA, Fla. – After defeating No. 22-nationally ranked Lee on Tuesday by a score of 3-2, the No. 6 seeded University of West Florida men's soccer team is scheduled to take on Alabama Huntsville in the Gulf South Conference Semifinals at the University of West Alabama. The Argos played the Chargers on Oct. 16 and dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision in double overtime. The winner of this game will play the victor of No. 1 seed West Alabama and No. 4 seed Shorter, which is scheduled to take place immediately after UWF and UAH complete play. West Florida owns an 11-5 record on the season, while its counterpart in Alabama Huntsville owns a closely similar record at 10-5.

Recapping the Quarterfinals
The Argos were able to get off to a fast start against No. 3 seed Lee on Tuesday, as Felipe Oliveira and Japhet Bitsindou were each able to score goals within the first 13 minutes. GSC Player of the Year David Perez gave the Argos headaches in the contest, however UWF was able to limit other sources of offense and played stingy defense against a pressuring Flames attack. Oliveira would tack on another goal before the end of the half as UWF went into the halftime break with a 3-1 lead. Oliviera's second goal of the game proved to be the difference, as the goal marked as the senior's GSC-best fourth game-winning goal of the season. Perez tallied his second goal of the game with just 7:45 to go however West Florida was able to withstand the Flames last-second pressure and secure the hard-fought win.

Last Time Out vs. Alabama Huntsville
Despite facing a 2-0 deficit with 30 minutes left in regulation, West Florida was able to rally behind two Jorge Chirinos goals and push the game into overtime. Chirinos recorded the game-tying tally with just 3:28 remaining in regulation.

The Argonauts applied the pressure in the first overtime period, outshooting the Chargers 3-0. UWF did not concede a shot in overtime until Hermann Bjornsson was successful on his game-winning penalty kick attempt with just nine seconds remaining in the second overtime period.  West Florida outshot UAH 10-8, while holding an advantage in corners 8-5.

The loss was Jacob Murray's first setback of the season, as the sophomore recorded two saves while facing eight Charger shots.

West Florida is 16-12-4 all-time against Alabama Huntsville.
