No. 23 UWF volleyball sweeps 20th opponent of the season with win over Union (Tenn.)

West Florida improves to 9-1 in road matches this season

JACKSON, Tenn. – The No. 23-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team defeated Gulf South Conference opponent Union (Tenn.) 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-18) on the road Friday night. West Florida (24-5, 16-1 GSC) tallied a .333 team attacking percentage and had nine service aces in the win.
 
UWF swept its 20th opponent of the season on Friday. West Florida swept 24 opponents during the 2007 season and 20 opponents in the 2008 season.
 
With the win over Union (Tenn.), West Florida improved its road record to 9-1. The program record for best winning percentage for regular season road matches is .909 (10-1). West Florida posted 10-1 regular season road records in 2005, 2011 and 2012.
 
Senior Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) tallied a team-high 15 kills at a .344 clip and had a pair of blocks in the win while junior Cora Bidlack (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) had nine kills with only on attack error on 17 swings (.471) and two blocks.
 
Sophomore Emily Cosgrove (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) had a team-high four blocks while junior Corisha Smith (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman HS) had five service aces and three kills on Friday night.
 
Sophomore Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS) tallied a team-high 31 assists and also had one block and a service ace while junior Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS) tallied 14 digs and an ace in the win.
 
West Florida will next face Christian Brothers on Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m. CT in the team's final regular season road match of the season.
 
UWF has already clinched a birth in the 2015 GSC Tournament and will be looking to host the tournament for the first time since 2013. The team with the best conference record at the end of the regular season will host the conference tournament. West Florida currently holds a one-match lead in the GSC over Valdosta State and North Alabama.
