Game Notes: No. 30 West Florida hosts No. 10 Alabama Huntsville

Argonauts and Chargers meet in showdown of top GSC teams

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The No. 30 West Florida baseball team faces one of its toughest opponents of the season when it hosts No. 10 Alabama Huntsville Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15, at Jim Spooner Field.

The Argonauts (14-7, 8-4) are tied for second in the Gulf South Conference standings while the Chargers (12-1-1, 8-1-1) sit in first. UWF is riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping Union last weekend. UAH has won five straight after sweeping Mississippi College and Shorter.

UWF defeated UAH 5-1 on the second day of the GSC Tournament last season but was eliminated by the Chargers after losing 6-0 on the final day of the double-elimination tournament. UWF is 29-18 all-time against UAH.
 
Scouting UAH 

The Chargers rotation is led by Chris Kilpatrick (1-0, 2.42 ERA) and Daniel Koger (5-0, 2.53 ERA). Their top reliever is Luke Mould (4 saves, 0.66 ERA).

The UAH offense is led by Cody Burton (.455 avg, 21 runs, 32 total bases) and Brandon Lawing (.294 avg, 4 homers, 18 RBIs).

Infielder Chandler Brock, pitcher Tyler Howell, Burton and Lawing are returning all-conference selections.
 
Clark named GSC POW

Ledarious Clark was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week last week. Clark earned his second player of the week award this season.
 
Clark hit .444 (8-for-18) in five games last week. He hit two home runs at Columbus State March 4 and finished the week with eight RBIs, a double, a triple and two stolen bases. 

This season, the Meridian, Miss. native is first in the GSC in stolen bases (12), first in triples (2), third in home runs (4) and fourth in RBIs (22).
 
Strasser earns 4th GSC Fresh of Week

Nic Strasser earned his fourth GSC Freshman of the Week award last week. UWF has won all six GSC FOW awards this season. 

Strasser hit .316 (6-for-19) last week. He recorded two doubles, three runs, three walks and a pair of RBIs. This season, the Orlando, Fla. native is third in the GSC in batting average (.431), fourth in on base percentage (.529) and fourth in runs (20).
