No. 1 West Florida men's tennis defeats No. 15 Midwestern State 7-2

Argonauts extend home winning streak against Division-II opponents to 51

RESULTS

PENSACOLA, Fla. –
The No. 1-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated No. 15 Midwestern State 7-2 at home on Tuesday afternoon. West Florida (10-1, 4-0 GSC) remains unbeaten at home this season and has not lost a home match since March 17, 2012 when the Argonauts fell to Division-I opponent Ole Miss.
 
West Florida has won 51 consecutive home matches against Division-II opponents dating back to March 20, 2011.
 
Junior Warren Kuhn (Johannesburg, South Africa) and senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) defeated the No. 17 doubles team of Kyle Davidson and Zack Santagate 8-3 at number one doubles. Kuhn and Latella improve to 2-0 on the year against nationally ranked opponents.
 
Junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) extend their winning streak to 10 with a 8-6 win at number two doubles while junior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) won at number three doubles 8-4.
 
Kuhn won at number one singles 6-4, 7-6, 10-3 while No. 30 Brasil fell to No. 32 Kyle Davidson 7-6, 4-6, 12-10 at number two singles. Kuhn improves his record to 2-2 against regionally ranked opponents while Brasil falls to 2-2 on the year against nationally ranked opponents.
 
Borrero fell at number three singles 7-5, 7-6 while Latella won at number four singles 6-2, 6-0.
 
Sophomore Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) won at number five singles 6-1, 6-0 while redshirt freshman Sebastian Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) won at number six singles 7-6, 7-6.
 
West Florida will next face No. 8 Saint Leo on Wednesday, March 18 at 1 p.m. CT before facing No. 20 Georgia College on Friday, March 20 at 9:30 a.m. CT.
