No. 1 West Florida men's tennis sweeps Lee 9-0

Argonauts remain undefeated on the road with Gulf South Conference win over Lee

Pablo Tellez won his first career singles match for UWF by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. –
The No. 1-ranked University of West Florida men's tennis team defeated Lee on the road Saturday afternoon. West Florida (7-0, 4-0 GSC) extends its Gulf South Conference winning streak to 32 and its overall winning streak to 36.
 
Sophomore Douglas Boe (Vinhedo, Brazil) and senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) won a close match at number one doubles 9-7 while junior Kenny Brasil (Apucarana, Brazil) and sophomore Alex Peyrot (Castelnaudary, France) won 8-4 at number two doubles.
 
Junior Pablo Borrero (Pereira, Colombia) and sophomore Pablo Tellez (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio) won decisively at number three doubles by a score of 8-0.
 
No. 8 Peyrot won at number one singles 6-3, 6-2 while No. 30 Brasil won 6-3, 6-0 at number two singles. Borrero won 6-1, 6-1 at number three singles while Latella won 6-3, 6-0 at number four singles.
 
Boe won at number five singles 6-1, 6-0 while Tellez won his first career singles match for UWF at number six singles by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
 
West Florida will continue the season on the road next week by facing a trio of ranked opponents in California. UWF will face No. 17 UC San Diego on Tuesday, March 10 in La Jolla, California at 9 a.m. PT before facing No. 42 Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, California on Wednesday, March 11 at 2 p.m. PT.
 
West Florida will wrap up the road trip by facing No. 2 Hawaii Pacific on Friday, March 13 in La Jolla, California at 12 p.m. PT. UWF defeated Hawaii Pacific in the 2014 NCAA DII National Championship match last season.
