Previewing Delta State

Delta State heads into the weekend's action looking to clinch the sixth and final seed for the 2015 Gulf South Conference Tournament. The Lady Statesmen currently hold the sixth spot with a 10-13 (.435) GSC record but UWF can spoil DSU's playoff hopes if they sweep the three game series and West Alabama wins all three of their games against No. 10 Alabama-Huntsville.

Delta State last played on Tuesday, April 21 against non-conference opponent Harding where they split a doubleheader. The Lady Statesmen last conference opponent was Shorter University and defeated the Hawks in two games to win the three game series.

DSU has seven student-athletes batting over .300 this season and are paced by Amber Adcock who is second in the GSC with a .424 batting average. She currently leads the GSC with 61 hits and has only struck out four times this season, the lowest number in the GSC.

Leading the Lady Statesmen in the circle is Shayna Beaver who has made 21 appearances and 14 starts so far this season. She has compiled a 10-5 record and a 2.73 ERA in 84.2 innings pitched. DSU's number two pitcher is Taylor Johnson who has made 20 appearances and 15 starts over the course of the season. She has a 9-6 record and a 4.61 ERA in 88.0 innings.
Rowell Earns GSC Freshman of the Week for Third Time
