DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The West Florida baseball team lost the second game of its road trip at North Georgia 6-5 Wednesday afternoon.
For the second time in two days, the Argonauts (22-14) were unable to hold a late lead as the Nighthawks (23-11) rallied in the ninth to win on a walk-off.
"Another extremely disappointing loss in the bottom of the ninth with a one run lead," UWF coach
Mike Jeffcoat said. "
Matt Rodriguez threw a solid seven innings. He made one bad pitch where a guy hit a two run homer to tie it. Our offense was resilient again getting the go ahead run. The pitching just let us down."
The UWF offense was highlighted by a three-run
Ledarious Clark (Meridian, Miss./East Mississippi CC) home run in the top of the third. Clark finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
After UNG tied the game 4-4 in the seventh,
Jimmy Redovian (Franklin, Tenn./Wake Forest) gave UWF a 5-4 lead with an RBI single in the ninth. But the Argo bullpen was unable to hold the lead.
UWF travels to Shorter for a doubleheader Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. ET.
