PENSACOLA, Fla. – After a mundane, scoreless first half, the University of West Florida posted one of its most impressive single-half offensive showings in recent memory to down the Saint Leo Lions 3-0 to improve to 3-4 on the season.
In the first half, UWF was outshot 5-2 before the first half finished with a 0-0 tie.
Stephen Enderlin wasted little time in after the second-half whistle, as the sophomore netted his first goal of the year after collecting a cross from
Isaiah Lopez in the 48
th minute.
After
Erick Rivera drew a foul in the Saint Leo box,
Marteinn Urbancic recorded his third goal of the year on a penalty kick to make the score 2-0 in the 74
th minute.
Chandler Castleman capped UWF's scoring by chipping a shot over SLU goalkeeper James White after collecting a through ball from
Tristan Rehrig. The goal marks as Castleman's second of 2016.
UWF outshot SLU 11-4 in the second half and posted twice as many shots on goal in the match.
Phil D'Amico notched his third clean sheet of the year and stopped three shots in the effort. Defenders
Barrett Mills,
Allan Kuhne and
Daniel Smith all posted strong efforts on the backline to prevent any chance of a Lions' attack.
West Florida will make a quick trip to Mobile on Tuesday for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
