All-GSC Selections
- UWF had six first team All-Gulf South Conference selections with the league's announcement on Monday. Freshman Marjorie Boilesen, junior Katelyn Burkhart, and seniors Sara Helgadottir, Svenja Burkhardt, Emily Vogler and Kaley Ward were the honorees, in addition to head coach Joe Bartlinski. West Florida's six first team picks are the third-most in a single season in conference history, behind UWF's 2010 team and CBU's 2002 team, each of which had seven first-team honorees.
- Marjorie Boilesen added to her tremendous rookie season by earning both GSC Freshman and Player of the Year accolades, a feat that has been accomplished by only four players before her in the same season. The native of Sao Paolo, Brazil, led the conference in points (34) and assists (14), while ranking sixth in total goals (10) in the regular season. Boilesen is the fifth UWF player to be named conference freshman of the year and the eighth to be named player of the year.
- Helgadottir also earned a first-team spot as a midfielder, picking up 12 assists to go along with four goals. Her 12 helpers rank third in DII, and the Grindavik, Iceland, native ranks fifth in UWF history with 30 assists. She has five assists in her last six games, and led all GSC players with 10 assists in conference play.
- Ward ranked second in the conference in goals in the regular season, with 13, and third in the league in points, with 28. She had two tremendous point-streaks during the year. From September 9 to October 2, she scored a goal in seven of eight games and tallied an assist in the lone game she didn't score. She concluded the season by scoring six goals in her final six games. Ward scored a goal in 12 different games this year, which is more than any other player in the GSC.
- Burkhardt and Vogler are both two-time All-GSC first team defenders, each having earned the honor as juniors last year. The duo patrolled a UWF back line that held opponents to 0.61 goals against average and less than six shots a game. The pair was integral in patrolling the team's 13 shutouts, and the streaks of seven consecutive shutouts and 723 consecutive shutout minutes, both of which will earn the 2016 UWF team a spot in the GSC record books. Notably, the defense held West Alabama's TeMia Pride and Lee's Summer Lanter, who are tied for second in shots and each rank in the top 5 in the conference in goals, without a shot.
- Burkhart, the junior from Pace, Florida, saved more than 80 percent of the shots she faced and went 13-2 in goal. She recorded four solo shutouts and played a part in 12 this season, allowing a league-best 0.37 goals against average. As things stand now, Burkhart's GAA for this season would rank third all-time in the GSC, and her career GAA of 0.56 would rank second in conference history.
- After his team won a conference-record 11 games in league play this year, Bartlinski picked up his sixth Coach of the Year honor. It is his first since 2013, which was his fourth in six seasons. Bartlinski has now doubled the second-highest award total for any women's coach in conference history, as current UWF men's coach Bill Elliott, Harding's Greg Harris and Christian Brothers' Gareth O'Sullivan each won three.
In the GSC Tournament
- With the Gulf South Conference Tournament here, we can look back at West Florida's dominance in the tournament's history. The Argonauts are the only team to have appeared in all 21 Gulf South Conference Tournaments to date.
- West Florida's 21 GSC Tournament berths are seven more than Christian Brothers' 14, which are the second-most in conference history.
- West Florida also leads the conference with 27 wins in the GSC Tournament, a .743 winning percentage in the tournament, 16 appearances in the GSC Tournament Finals and 9 GSC Championships.
In the Rankings
- Despite having top 15 national marks in scoring offense, assists, goals, points, shutout percentage, allowing just one goal in the month of October, allowing just one goal in conference play all year and claiming the Gulf South Conference regular-season title, UWF was ranked sixth in the latest NCAA South Region rankings on Wednesday.
- The winners of the GSC and the Sunshine State Conference tournaments earn automatic bids into the NCAA Tournament, leaving four at-large bids available for the remaining teams.
Helgadottir's Helpers
- Senior midfielder Sara Helgadottir now ranks fifth all-time in the UWF record books with 30 career assists, after helping on an Emily Vogler goal on Sunday against Delta State.
- She ranks third in DII in total assists (12) and fourth in assists per game (0.67).
- Her efforts against Valdosta State marked the sixth game in the senior's career with a goal and an assist.
- The senior has recorded an assist in five of her last six games, including four in a row from 10/14-10/27.

2. 35 - Chelsea Palmer (2012-13)
3. 34 - Dernelle Mascall (2007-09)
4. 33 - Shaneka Gordon (2008-09)
5. 30 -

Wow, This Defense
- West Florida ranks sixth in the country in shutout percentage, recording clean sheets in 13 of the team's 18 games (72 percent).
- Against the top 15 goal-scorers in the Gulf South Conference this year, UWF allowed just six shots, one shot on goal and no goals. Notably, UWF held GSC Co-Player of the Year Summer Lanter without a shot, and did the same against TeMia Pride, who ranked second in the league with 13 goals.
- The Argos' .61 goals against average is second-best in the conference, but may be a bit misleading. Lee, which leads the Gulf South Conference with a .47 GAA, has a still-impressive 10 shutouts on the year, giving UWF a full three games more of shutout soccer.
- UWF allowed just one goal in conference play, which has been done just five times in GSC history.
- UWF's scoreless minutes streak reached 723 before coming to an end on Friday. The streak was the sixth-longest in conference history.
- Current UWF goalkeeper Katelyn Burkhart ranks ninth in DII in GAA at .39, which would rank third in GSC history. Her career GAA of 0.51 would rank second in GSC history.
Scouting West Alabama
- West Florida took a big 4-0 win on Senior Day against UWA on October 23. The team held TeMia Pride, who ranks second in the league with 13 goals, to zero shots and allowed only three shots on the day.
- West Alabama's attack is led by Pride and Kirsten Reilly, a 3-time All-GSC selection. The pair has combined for 52 points on the year, with 20 goals and 12 assists.
On November 4
- Game day, November 4, has been an interesting day in world history. In 1922, archaeologist Howard Carter led an expedition that found the entrance to King Tut's tomb in The Valley of Kings in Egypt, Nellie Ross became the first female governor in the United States in 1924 (Wyoming), and Baseball Hall of Famer Cy Young passed away in 1955.
- American film icon Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4, 1969, sharing a birthday with journalist Walter Cronkite (1916), football player Vince Wilfork (1981), and Sean Combs, otherwise known as P. Diddy, Puff Daddy or Puffy (1969).
