PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF volleyball (20-6, 10-0 GSC) takes to the road this weekend for matches at Shorter (13-8, 6-3 GSC) and Lee (15-6, 6-3 GSC). The No. 22 Argos are coming off a 3-0 week that included a road victory at Valdosta State, and two wins Friday and Saturday at home vs. Mississippi College and West Alabama. First serve Friday at Shorter is scheduled for 5:00 pm CST and Saturday's match at Lee is scheduled for 1:00 pm CST.
PERFECT WEEK
* The Argos bounced back from a 1-2 trip to the South Region Crossover with three wins in three matches last week. The team stayed perfect in away matches this year by downing Valdosta State before closing the week with back-to-back wins vs. Mississippi College and West Alabama.
* Katy Kuhlmeier led UWF last week with 22 kills and a .452 attack percentage. Jordyn Poppen also finished the week with 22 kills, while Rachel Neblett notched 21. Caleigh Morrison piled up 16 kills and seven blocks in a productive week. Monique StCyr reset her career-high with 20 digs Saturday in the win over West Alabama.
* Head coach Melissa Wolter earned her 400th career victory as the Argos downed Valdosta State 3-2 on the road Tuesday evening. The career milestone is another in the impressive career of Melissa Wolter, who has totaled 364 of her 400 career wins at UWF. She has won at least ten matches in 16 of her 18 seasons as a head coach and has clinched her 13th straight year of at least 20 wins.
* Wolter earned another milestone earlier this season, notching her 350th win at UWF September 9th during the team's participation in the Colorado Premier Challenge.
PACK IT PINK MATCH
* Saturday's contest vs. West Alabama was was the program's 11th annual "Pack It Pink" match. The day featured free T-shirts for the first 250 fans, a silent auction and a pre-match reception in the Argonaut Athletic Club for breast cancer survivors. The event raised $5,068 for the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association.
CURRENT GSC LEADERS
* Rachel Neblett ranks second in the GSC with a .404 hitting percentage. Caleigh Morrison ranks eighth in the conference with a .292 hitting percentage.
* In the GSC, Neblett ranks sixth with 3.26 kills per set. Neblett is tied for second with 0.44 service aces per set. She is third with 4.24 points per set.
* Monique StCyr ranks second in the GSC with 9.36 assists per set.
* In the GSC, Morrison ranks fourth with 1.01 blocks per set. Neblett ranks fifth with 0.96 blocks per set.
* Logan Kael is tied for eighth in the GSC in digs with 3.81 per set.
* UWF leads the GSC with a .251 hitting percentage. The Argos lead the conference with 13.98 kills per set and 0.81 opponent service aces per set. The team leads the conference in blocks with 2.13 per set. The team is second in the GSC with 13.11 assists per set.
GSC DOMINANCE
* UWF currently sits in first place in the GSC, two games ahead of North Alabama and 2.5 games ahead of West Alabama.
* Since Melissa Wolter took over the UWF volleyball program prior to the 2003 season, West Florida has been nearly unstoppable in GSC play, owning a 178-24 record. Last year the Argonauts went 17-3 in GSC action and 7-3 on the road. UWF currently has a 65-match winning streak during regular season home games against conference opponents. The last loss for UWF in a GSC regular season home game came against North Alabama on October 24, 2009.
* UWF won six consecutive GSC Championships from 2008-2013. UWF currently owns the longest active streak of 20-win seasons in the GSC, which currently stands at 13 (not including 2004 season shortened by Hurricane Ivan). Valdosta State and North Alabama are tied for the second longest active streak of 20-win seasons in the GSC at three. UWF has reached 11 consecutive NCAA South Regional Tournaments.
* The team is 6-0 so far in away matches and 5-0 in conference away matches.
STCYR PURSUES SERVICE ACES RECORD
* Monique StCyr has posted 21 service aces in the 2017 season, drawing her within nine of the current all-time career record-holder Jessica Bragion, who accumulated 165 from 2002-2005. StCyr is already the all-time career assists leader at UWF, checking in with 3,337 to begin the year and adding 861 this season. She is the first Argo to eclipse 4,000 assists in a career.

SCOUTING SHORTER
* Shorter checks into play Friday with a record of 13-8 overall and 6-3 in GSC play. The team has won three straight matches after dropping four of five from September 30 to October 13.
* Shorter was selected to finish 3rd in the preseason poll by GSC coaches. The team had one selection to the All-GSC preseason team: Tiffani Estep. Shorter finished tied for the best record in the GSC during the 2016 regular season at 22-7 and 17-3 in conference play. The program went undefeated at home (11-0) last year and are 3-1 at home so far this year.
* The Lady Hawks are second in the GSC in blocks per set (2.11) and opponent blocks per set (1.42). They are third in the conference with 1.78 service aces per set and fourth with 1.18 opponent service aces per set. The team is fifth in digs with 16.03 per set and sixth in hitting percentage at .211.
* Annie Homan leads the conference with 0.48 service aces per set. Estep ranks third in the GSC with a .341 hitting percentage. Estep is also third in blocks with 1.04 per set. She is eighth in the conference at 3.52 points per set. Cheyenne Mclemore is fifth with 4.56 digs per set.
* The Argos are 9-2 vs. Shorter since 2012 and 3-2 at Shorter in the same span. The Argos had a five-match head-to-head win streak snapped last year in Rome, falling 3-2 to the Lady Hawks 3-2.
SCOUTING LEE
* Lee checks into this weekend with a 15-6 overall record and a 6-3 mark in GSC play. The team has won four of its last six matches.
* Lee was picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll of GSC coaches. The team had one selection to the preseason All-GSC team: Silvia Sartori. Lee finished 2016 with a 15-15 overall record and a 10-10 record in conference play. The team was 9-3 at home last year and is 5-1 at home this year.
* Sartori currently ranks second in the GSC in kills with 3.80 per set. She ranks fourth with 0.42 service aces per set and is second in the GSC in points with 4.32 per set. MaKayla Beebe ranks second in the conference with 5.01 digs per set. Sadie Johnson ranks tenth in the conference with 5.94 assists per set. Alex Reuter is eighth with 0.39 service aces per set and is tenth with a .287 hitting percentage.
* Lee leads the GSC with 1.84 service aces per set and 18.09 digs per set. The Lady Flames rank third in the GSC with a .216 hitting percentage and third with 13.62 kills per set. They are tied for fifth with an opponent hitting percentage of .168. Lee is third in the conference with 12.61 assists per set and ranks fifth with 10.64 opponent assists per set.
* UWF is 6-2 vs. Lee since 2013 and is 2-2 at Lee in the same span. The Argos had a six match head-to-head winning streak snapped during October 2016 in a 3-2 loss in Cleveland.
