Carson-Newman will run a live video broadcast of the match and fans can also follow along with live stats.
The winner of the match on Friday will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinal on Sunday in Jefferson City, where they will play the winner of Carson-Newman and Columbus State.
SCOUTING LEE
* The Lady Flames from Cleveland, Tennessee, have put together a 17-4-1 record this year, doing so with the second-lowest goals against average (0.64) in the Gulf South Conference, and the league's most prolific goal-scorer, in conference player of the year Summer Lanter.
* Lanter and her 19 goals caused some trouble for UWF in the regular-season matchup between the teams, with a pair of goals including the game-winner. She has been particularly good lately, scoring 10 goals in her last 6 games, with 6 in the Lady Flames' last four contests.
* Lee advanced to the Third Round of NCAA Tournament action with a win over Nova Southeastern in PKs last Sunday. The Lady Flames were trailing 1-0 until Lanter found the net in the 89th minute.
IN THE TOURNAMENT
* This year marks the 14th time in 17 years of
Joe Bartlinski's tenure that his Argonauts have reached the NCAA Tournament.
* UWF leads all GSC teams in tournament appearances (15) and wins (23).
* West Florida is the only team in the Gulf South Conference to reach the Regional Final more than once, doing so for the sixth time. Even more impressive, the Argonauts are 5-0 in those previous five Regional Final matches. Even more impressive than
that is that UWF has not allowed a goal in any of those matches, outscoring opponents 7-0.
OUR HALL-OF-FAMER
* University of West Florida women's soccer coach
Joe Bartlinski has earned a spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association Women's Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his work at Brevard College. Bartlinski coached the Lady Tornados from 1989-2000, earning 167 wins at the NJCAA level before coming to West Florida.
* At Brevard, Bartlinski was a two-time National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) Coach of the Year and his teams won back-to-back national championships in 1996 and 1997. Along with the national accolade, Bartlinski also guided the Lady Tornados to 68 consecutive wins while setting NJCAA records of single season goals (201) and fewest goals allowed in a season (3).
* Under his leadership, Brevard boasted two national players of the year and 25 NJCAA, NSCAA and NAIA All-Americans.
* Bartlinski's success translated to West Florida immediately. He was named the coach for the Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer All-Time Team in 2010 and has been named the GSC Coach of the Year six times in his tenure, while also earning NCAA National Coach of the Year honors twice (2008, 2012).
* His 282 wins and .838 career winning percentage at UWF are both the highest in GSC history. That winning percentage is the best among active coaches in Division II and ranks sixth all-time, and his 282 wins rank 12th.
OUR ALL-REGION PICKS
* Four members of the University of West Florida women's soccer team have earned a spot on the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-South Region teams.
* Leonie Kreil has turned into one of the elite point scorers in the Gulf South Conference and in the region in her sophomore season. With eight goals and nine assists, she leads UWF with 25 total points – a mark that ranks fifth in the GSC. The Bad Kissingen, Germany, native also ranks third in the league in assists and tied for 10th in goals. Her season was highlighted by a six-game point streak in the middle of the year, when she scored five goals, tallied three assists and helped UWF to a 5-1 record while outscoring opponents 21-6 from October 1 through October 15.
* Shantell Thompson made a quick impact on the GSC in her first season in the Blue and Green. The junior midfielder leads the conference with 10 assists, with two of those coming last weekend against North Alabama. Thompson has also added five goals for the Argonauts, with one of those coming against Christian Brothers in the opening round of the GSC Tournament.
*
Katelyn Burkhart has etched her named into the UWF record books with 35 wins and 19 shutouts, with both of those ranking in the top five in West Florida women's soccer history. Those marks also put her in the top 10 in GSC history, ranking eighth in wins and ninth in shutouts. This year, the senior ranks second in the GSC in goals against average (0.67) and third in save percentage (.793), while leading the league with 9 shutouts.
* Despite missing six games due to injury, Blackwood's résumé was strong enough to earn her both all-conference and all-region selections. The forward leads UWF with nine goals, a total that ranks seventh in the league. Four of those came in the first three games of the year, and three more came in the games immediately following her return to the pitch. Her most important goal this season came on Sunday, when she flew past the Mississippi College keeper and took a shot from 18 yards out to give UWF a win in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
AGAINST TENNESSEE
* West Florida has had a great deal of success against women's soccer programs from the Volunteer State, with a 31-13-1 overall record.
* The Argonauts have even had some postseason run-ins with teams from Tennessee, with a 2-2 record against Lincoln Memorial, a 6-4 record against Christian Brothers, and an 0-0-1 record against Lee in the Gulf South Conference Tournament. UWF has outscored opponents 41-23.
* UWF's Tennessee experience has even continued into the NCAA Tournament on a few occasions. The Blue and Green have an even 2-2 combined record against CBU, Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman in those four matches. This will be the first time the Argos have matched up with the Lady Flames from Lee in the NCAA Tournament.
