UWF Swimming and Diving Splits Up for Final Event of Fall

Argos will be in Melbourne, Florida, and Cleveland, Mississippi

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The swimmers will be in Melbourne, Florida, and the divers will be in Cleveland, Mississippi, this weekend when the University of West Florida swimming and diving team wraps up its fall schedule with the Panther Invitational and the Delta Diving Invitational.

The Argonauts have gotten off to a strong start this season on the boards and in the pool, with divers breaking UWF freshman records in the 1-meter and 3-meter events and several swimmers holding top-30 times in multiple events in Division II.

The diving team showed a strong performance at Alabama last weekend, with Jesstina Farrell winning the 3-meter event and with four divers scoring 200 or more points in each event.

Grace Sommerville led UWF with a win in the 500 Free at a quad meet in Tallahassee against Florida State, North Florida and Florida Southern two weeks ago. Madeline Pitt and Christina Kilpatrick took top-five finishes in the 1,000 Free, and Pitt did the same in the 100 Fly and 200 Fly.

A handful of freshman, including Kilpatrick, have been standing out for UWF so far in the season. A prime example of that came at the quad meet when Morgan Ayers finished fifth in the 100 Breast and Ardinn Grabenhorst finished fourth in the 100 Fly.

West Florida has won the Panther Invitational each of the last two years, going with a wire-to-wire victory last year.

UWF was recently ranked No. 11 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll, and has reached as high as No. 6 in CollegeSwimming.com's Championship Rankings.
