VALDOSTA, Ga. – The UWF baseball team travels to Valdosta State for its first Gulf South Conference road series of the season. UWF and VSU will play a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. and play a single game on Sunday also at 1:00 p.m.
 
RUNNING THROUGH THE SIX-GAME WIN STREAK
- West Florida is hitting .355 as a team during its current six-game winning streak while limiting its opponents to a 2.14 average. 
- Six players are hitting north of .350 during the win streak, led by Brandon Harmon who is hitting 10-for-20 (.500) in the last six games. Ladeavon Matthews (.455), Robert Lopez (.435), Justin Ambrosino (.407), Matt Sullivan (.385) and Chase Kiefer (.360) are all above that .350 threshold. 
- Justin Ambrosino and Ladeavon Matthews lead the team in run production with 10 and 8 RBI, respectively. 
- UWF has a 3.12 team ERA during its winning streak while opposing pitchers have been tagged for an 8.44 ERA. 
- Jarrod Petree leads the team with a 1.42 ERA over his four relief appearances during the streak. Jackson Smith has allowed just two earned runs over 10.2 innings pitched for a 2-0 record during the streak.
- Jared Gonzalez and Steve McClellan have pitched well in the back-end of the bullpen, with both having a 0.00 ERA. Gonzalez has allowed just one hit in his last 3.2 innings pitched, while McClellan has allowed just two hits and has struck out five over his last four appearances (4 IP). 
 
CLOSING IN ON 400
- Head coach Mike Jeffcoat is just one win away from becoming the ninth GSC coach ever to reach 400 wins in his career. 
- Jeffcoat entered 2017 as the 19th winningest active Division II coach with a career .654 winning percentage. 
- His .654 winning percentage is also 40th best all-time in Divsion II. Upon earning his 400th win, Jeffcoat will own the 26th best winning percentage in Division II history with at least 400 wins. 
- A four-time GSC Coach of the Year, Jeffcoat would become the third active GSC coach to have 400 wins under his belt -- joining West Alabama's Gary Rundles (546 wins) and Delta State's Mike Kinnison (859 wins)
 
STREAK BACK ON THE LINE
- UWF has won 13 consecutive GSC regular series and won all 11 of its conference series last season... That stretch is the longest in the conference since UWF won 15 in a row from 2011-2012.
 
BROOM SHOPPING
- The Argos got off on the right foot to start conference play, sweeping Mississippi College in a three-game set and outscoring the Choctaws 24-8. 
- Brandon Harmon (6-for-12) and Robert Lopez (5-for-10) led the team with .500 averages. 
- Ladeavon Matthews posted a team-high six RBIs in the series and recorded a season-high 4 RBI in the middle game of the series. 
- UWF has recorded nine GSC sweeps since the last time it was swept by a conference foe... The Argos have not been swept since playing Valdosta State on the road in 2015.
