Hitting the Road
* For the third consecutive season, UWF will take an early-season trip down to southern Florida. The Argonauts will begin their season with a match against Lynn on Friday, September 1 in Boca Raton, Florida, before facing Palm Beach Atlantic in a neutral site contest on Sunday, September 3 at the same location.
* West Florida is 5-1 all-time against Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn, and the teams last matched up in 2015. The Argos hold a 2-0 all-time record against PBA, most recently taking a win at the UWF Soccer Complex in 2011.

In the Preseason Poll
* For the 11th time in the last 14 seasons, the University of West Florida women's soccer team was picked as the favorite in the Gulf South Conference preseason coaches poll, released on August 10.
* UWF picked up 12 of 13 possible first-place vote, earning 168 total points in the poll. The Argonauts are the only GSC team to enter the 2017 season ranked in the top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 8.
* West Florida had a banner year in 2016, recording the most conference wins in a single season in GSC history (11) and outscoring conference opponents 38-1. That win total pushed UWF's all-time GSC record to 145-15, good for an .899 winning percentage and the total gave West Florida 57 more wins than any other school in league history.
* The Argonauts are the only team in Gulf South Conference history with at least 90 GSC wins (145), 410 goals scored in league play (535), or 10 wins in the NCAA Tournament (23). Additionally, the Argonauts have won a conference-best 10 titles and head coach Joe Bartlinski has been named the GSC Coach of the Year six times, also a league record.

Last Year, At A Glance
* Few programs could come close to matching what UWF women's soccer has done since 2000, and the 2016 campaign was one of the best in school history. West Florida picked up a 10th Gulf South Conference Championship, a sixth South Region Title, won 19 matches and tallied 17 team shutouts, a total that ranks second in GSC history.
* Individually, six Argonauts earned All-GSC and All-South Region honors, and five earned All-America honors from the D2CCA. Additionally, Sara Helgadottir and Emily Vogler became the second and third CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in program history, and Helgadottir was a first-teamer.

The Returners
* Last year's South Region Champions bring several returners and key players back in 2017. Attackers Kaljit Atwal and Leonie Kreil scored four times each in their first year's at UWF, and midfielders Savanna Soares and Camille King each scored twice.
* Most of the returning minutes, however, come on the defensive side of the pitch. All-American keeper Katelyn Burkhart will patrol the goalline for the Argonauts, and defenders Elizabeth Vickers and Georgia Bailey, who ranked first and fourth on the team in minutes played last season, will be returning.
