SOME SCOUTING
* The Gulf South Conference season opens for UWF with a pair of away games at West Alabama (2-2) and Alabama Huntsville (2-2).
* UWA is first up, was picked to finish 5th in the Gulf South this year.  The Tigers return 13 players from last year but invite 10 freshmen to campus.
* UWF and UWA faced off last year and the Argos took a 4-0 win, while taking 21 shots and allowing just 5.
* UWF Is 6-2 all-time against UWA.
* Alabama Huntsville was picked to finish 11th in the league this year.
* UAH returns seven starters, Including their top five in minutes played in 2016: Sydney Pfankuch, Hannah Oglesby, Lauren Mayer, Riley Ridgeway, and Mia Jetsu.
* UWF has never lost to UAH, holding a 22-0-0.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
* Savanna Soares's first goal in the 15th minute of the game would have been enough for the University of West Florida women's soccer team to defeat Albany State on Wednesday evening, but Soares and four other Argonauts found the net in a 6-0 victory.
* With the win, No. 5 UWF improved to 3-0 on the year, and West Florida now has several Gulf South Conference individual stat leaders. Shantell Thompson and Leonie Kreil lead the league with three assists each, after Thompson added two helpers on Wednesday and Kreil had one, and Deneisha Blackwood's goal in the 47th minute extended her leads in goals (4) and total points (8).

IN THE RANKINGS
* The University of West Florida women's soccer team remains in the top 10 of the United Soccer Coaches poll for the third consecutive week, coming in at No. 6 in the latest rankings. UWF had a lopsided 6-0 win last Wednesday versus Albany State and had scheduled matches against Auburn Montgomery and Montevallo cancelled due to the impending threat of Hurricane Irma.

A LOT OF GOALS
* Having outscored opponents 12-1 over the first three games of the year, UWF's plus-11 goal differential is one of the program's best through three matches. It is the biggest goal differential through the first three games of a season since West Florida outscored Florida Tech, Warner Pacific and Spring Hill 19-0 in 2009.

A QUICK RECAP
* UWF's home opener could not have gone much better than the 6-0 win over Albany State that fans saw on Wednesday.
* Savanna Soares scored the first two goals of the match, marking her second career two-goal game at UWF.
* Hannah Wooten and Victoria Swift each scored the first goals of their careers in the game, while Elizabeth Vickers scored her first of the season and Deneisha Blackwood scored again, giving her four goals for the season.
* Shantell Thompson assisted on two goals and Leonie Kreil assisted on Swift's goal, giving each of them three helpers for the year. That is gives Thompson and Kreil each a Gulf South Conference lead in the category, and no other GSC women's soccer player has more than one assist so far this year.
