PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF volleyball (12-4, 4-0 GSC) made it nine straight wins as they swept Auburn Montgomery (7-9, 1-5 GSC) Saturday afternoon in the UWF Field House 3-0. Nadine Williams and reigning GSC Offensive Player of the Week Rachel Neblett led the way for the Argos, who never trailed in the match, with eleven kills each. UWF hit .481 for the match.
The Argos took the first set 25-11 behind five kills from Williams and five more from Jordyn Poppen. Courtney Markes and Logan Kael each racked up 5 digs. The Argos hit .500 for the set, cruising to leads of 6-1 and 18-8 at AUM timeouts before finishing the set with a comfortable margin of victory.
UWF took the second set by a final of 25-11 as well. The team raced out to a 10-1 lead and never looked back. Neblett picked up five kills in the set, and the team hit .333 for the set. The Argos forced thirteen AUM errors over the first two sets. Monique StCyr racked up 20 assists through the first two sets.
The Argos once again built a big lead in the third, with the effective serving of Brogan Wallin fueling a 10-0 early margin. Wallin would finish the match with 13 assists, 2 kills and 1 service ace. UWF took the third set 25-9 while hitting a match-high .562.
UWF committed just 8 errors in the match, while AUM committed 18. Williams, who finished with 2 assists, 2 digs and 3 blocks in addition to her 11 kills, finished with a .647 mark while Neblett came in at .474. Neblett added 6 blocks in addition to her 11 kills. Phoebe Hozeska hit .556 while racking up 6 kills. Katy Kuhlmeier picked up 5 kills while hitting .333. Kael led the way defensively with 11 digs. The win was the 63rd in a row in conference play at the UWF Field House for Melissa Wolter and the Argos. The team has now won 12 of 13 sets in conference play.
UWF looks for a 5th win in GSC play with a match vs. West Georgia (1-12, 0-5 GSC) Tuesday. First serve vs. the Wolves in the UWF Field House is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
