LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The top-ranked UWF men's golf team posted a 12-under-par on Monday to take control of the Las Vegas Desert Classic with a 15-shot lead entering Tuesday's final round.

UWF had all five players at even par or better in the second round of the 54-hole event, led by senior
Chandler Blanchet's 65 and classmate
Henry Westmoreland IV's 69. All five Argonauts had at least four holes each with birdies or eagles.

Blanchet strung together stretches of 3- and 4-consecutive birdies during the day. He had gotten to 9-under through 15 before bogeying the final two holes. His 67-65=132 total is five strokes ahead of Domenic Mancinelli of Grand Valley.

Westmoreland is in seventh place after rebounding from a 75 in the opening round to give him an even-par 144 total.

Junior
Julian Otero birdied five of his first seven holes on Monday before slipping back to a 1-under-par 71. He is tied for 15th with a 77-71-148 score.

Juniors
Jacob Huizinga and
Christian Bosso are also among the top-30, making UWF the only school in the 18-team field to have all five golfers in that range. Huizinga is in 20th at 149 after rounds of 78 and 71, while Bosso is two strokes back in a tie for 26th at 151. He birdied his final three holes to close with a 72 following a 79 on Sunday.

The Argonauts used a 276 to distance themselves from the rest of the field. Their 573 score to this point – 3-under-par overall – is 15 strokes ahead of second-place Oklahoma Christian. Grand Valley is in third at 592, while Arkansas Tech and Lindenwood are tied for fourth at 594.
The Argonauts also have two players competing as individuals. Senior
Esteban Castro is tied for 59th at 157 and junior
Bryce Geraghty is tied for 78th at 159.

UWF is looking to win the event for the third-consecutive year and the fifth time in the last six overall.
