MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UWF men's and women's tennis teams continued their winning ways at the Gulf South Conference Tournament picking up semifinal victories at Lagoon Park Tennis Center on Friday.

MEN'S RECAP
The men's team got out to a 3-0 lead for the second-straight day. At the No. 3 spot, Nicholas Lecoutre and
Juan Cabrera opened the day with an 8-2 win. The 14th-ranked duo of

Lucas Sanchez claimed an 8-4 win at No. 1 before
Alfonso Castellano/
Nicholas Springer made it a clean sweep with their 8-6 win at No. 2.Â

In singles action, eighth-ranked Bojadjiev pushed the score to 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Georg Trompler at No. 2. Cabrera registered his second singles win of the week with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Daniel Del Val to send the Argonauts into the championship match for the eighth-straight year and 19th time in program history.Â

The sixth-ranked Argos (23-2) ran their win streak to 13 matches and will face second-seeded Valdosta State in Saturday's title match at 11:00 a.m.

The teams have combined to win the last 24 league titles, with the Argos winning 13 and the Blazers winning 11 since 2005 - UWFs first season in the GSC.

UWF and Valdosta State are meeting in the championship for the fourth-consecutive year and the 17th time in the last 24. The Argonauts are 13-6 in championship matches.

WOMEN'S RECAP
The third-ranked Argonaut women's team found itself in an odd position – trailing after doubles. UWF dropped two of the three matches to North Alabama, marking the eighth time this season they entered singles on the negative side of the scoreboard.

UWF showed its singles strength with four straight-set victories to advance into Saturday's title contest.

Diana Vlad and Heather Mixon each collected 6-2, 6-1 decisions at the Nos. 5 and 6 spots respectively to put the Argos back ahead 3-2. 57th-ranked Ines Nicault took down Nine Linke, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 before 16th-ranked Paula Coyos clinched the victory on court one with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Claudia Arroyo.

UWF (25-3) will face second-seeded Mississippi College on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. UWF advances to the championship match for the 24th-consecutive year – every season since joining the GSC in the 1994-95 season – and have won a league-record 17 titles.
