PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF baseball will travel to Mobile to take on Spring Hill Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. The Argos will look to get back on track before opening conference play with a doubleheader at home vs. Christian Brothers Saturday.
"We're looking forward to another opportunity to play on the road and see how our team responds after a tough road trip over the weekend," said UWF head coach
Mike Jeffcoat.
The game will be the third straight on the road for UWF. The team dropped the first two in a series at Rollins before rain canceled the three-game set's finale.
"We're looking to get multiple guys on the mound," said Jeffcoat. "
Tony Kucera is starting, only going two innings since he missed his start because of Sunday's rainout at Rollins, which will allow him to be ready for a Sunday start against Christian Brothers. And hopefully we can get our offense going."
The Argos are 15-3 vs. Spring Hill since 2007. UWF has won the last two matchups with the Badgers by a combined score of 30-7.
ROSSI WINS GSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK AWARD
* Pitcher
Tony Rossi earned the first Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week award of his UWF career Tuesday.
* The righty is coming off six solid innings at Rollins Saturday. He scattered seven hits vs. the Tars, striking out four and walking one. Rossi currently ranks in the top-10 in the Gulf South with 11.1 innings pitched so far this season.

* UWF baseball is looking to snap a four-game losing streak dating back to a 4-2 Feb. 2 loss vs. No. 4/5 Florida Southern.
* All four losses have come by three runs or less, and two of the four losses have been by just one run.
* UWF baseball rallied late but could not stave off Rollins in the series opener at Harper-Shepherd Field Friday evening. The Argos scored six times in the sixth and once in the seventh to erase a 7-1 deficit before Rollins plated a pair in the ninth to win 9-8.
Adam Imwalle recorded two hits and two RBIs.
* The Argos dropped Game 2 at Rollins by a final of 4-1 despite a solid pitching performance by Rossi and
Matt Sullivan's first home run of the year. Game 3 was canceled due to rain. The game will not be rescheduled.
SCOUTING SPRING HILL
* The Badgers are 2-5 overall. The team has yet to start SIAC play. SHC is 2-2 at home and 0-3 away this season.
* Spring Hill is led offensively by Brennan Fontenot, who has hit .391 with six RBIs and five runs scored over the first seven games of 2019. Luke Wall (.346) is the only other Badger hitting over .222 this season.
* The Spring Hill staff currently owns a collective 7.23 ERA. Tucker Powell has spearheaded the starting rotation, limiting opponents to just five hits and two earned runs over his first two starts.
* UWF went 3-0 vs. Spring Hill in 2018, winning back-to-back February matchups 8-3 and 11-2 in Pensacola. The Argos defeated the Badgers 19-5 in Mobile Apr. 24.
