PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 9/10 UWF baseball hosts Shorter in a GSC series at Jim Spooner Field Saturday and Sunday.
The Argos and Hawks will meet Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The day will be a "Bark In The Park" – fans are encouraged to bring their pups to both the baseball and softball doubleheaders on campus. UWF and Shorter close the series at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
UWF (22-9, 13-2 GSC) is coming off an important road win Wednesday at Montevallo.

Matt Sullivan reached base six times as the Argos outhit the Falcons 14-6 and took the win 8-3.
ARGOS RISE AGAIN IN NATIONAL POLLS
* UWF baseball rose in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers poll. The Argonauts checked in at No. 9 and are now featured in the top 10 in two different national polls.
* UWF is tied with Mercyhurst for 9th in the poll. The Argonauts are also ranked in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 25. UWF baseball checked in there at No. 10.
* The Argos also rose to No. 2 in the latest South Region poll released by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
FLOYD DOMINANT OVER THE LAST MONTH

Daniel Floyd has been brilliant over the last month for the Argonauts on the mound. Since Feb. 24, the junior hurler is 3-0 with three saves. He has allowed just two earned runs in the last 25 innings while striking out 24.
* Floyd earned GSC Pitcher of the Week honors Mar. 19 and NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week honors Mar. 20.
* The Wallace-Dothan CC alum earned the win at Montevallo Wednesday by limiting the Falcons to just one run. He has struck out 11 and walked two in 11 innings (two appearances) as a starter this season.
SULLIVAN RIDING NEARLY-UNPRECEDENTED HITTING STREAK
*
Matt Sullivan ran his team-best hitting streak to 19 straight games with three hits Wednesday. He also reached base six times.
* Sullivan is now tied with Dustin Lawley (2010) for the third-longest hit streak in program history. The all-time UWF record is held by Stephen Jackson, who hit safely in 29 straight games in 1998.
* Sullivan and
Trevor Payne have each reached base in 25 straight games. Four different Argos have reached base in at least 16 straight games this season.
* Sullivan, an outfielder from Orlando, is first in the GSC in slugging percentage (.779) and runs (37). He is tied for the conference lead in hits (42). He is tied for second with eight homers. He is third in the conference with a .404 average. He is fourth with a .507 OBP.
SCOUTING SHORTER
* The Hawks stand at 16-13 overall and 9-8 in conference play. The Hawks are 9-5 at home and 7-8 away this season.
* The Hawks rank fourth with a .279 team batting average. The team's staff is also fourth with a 4.63 ERA. The Hawks are sixth with a .960 fielding percentage.
* Michael Avenado leads the conference with a .447 batting average. Bailey Gerstner is 11th in the GSC with a .371 average.
* Victor Santana is tied for second in the conference with five wins. He sports an ERA of 3.10, which ranks ninth among all qualified pitchers in the conference.
* Shorter is 2-4 in its last six games but has won each of its last three conference series, taking two of three from CBU, UWA and Union.
* The Argos are 13-2 vs. the Hawks since 2013 but have dropped the last two games vs. the Hawks (both played on April 22, 2017).
