PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF baseball will host Spring Hill College Tuesday at Jim Spooner Field. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. The matchup with SHC will be the first of a four-game homestand to close the regular season for the Argonauts.

"Just have to give everything we've got the last 4 home games this week and finish strong," said UWF head coach Mike Jeffcoat.

UWF (29-14, 19-7 GSC) will close the regular season with a three-game set beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. vs. GSC rival West Alabama (22-17, 9-15 GSC).

PREVIOUSLY VS. SPRING HILL

* UWF baseball took a 6-2 decision at Spring Hill Feb. 13. The Argos scored four of their six runs with two outs. Bryant Harris Jr. hit the first home run of his UWF career.
* Tony Kucera got the start for the Argos and set aside all six he faced over the first two innings. He gave way to a platoon of Argo relief men beginning with Daniel Floyd in the third.
* Spring Hill now stands at 23-15 overall this season and 15-3 in SIAC play. The Badgers are the final non-conference opponent of the regular season for UWF.
* UWF is 16-3 vs. Spring Hill since 2007 and 11-1 at home vs. the Badgers in that span.

ARGOS NOW NO. 6 NATIONALLY, IN HUNT FOR REGULAR SEASON GSC CROWN

* UWF is ranked No. 6 in the latest iteration of the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II poll. The latest edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll is due out Tuesday.
* The Argos are the highest-ranked GSC team in the latest edition of the CBN poll. Colorado Mesa topped the poll while North Greenville, West Texas A&M, Quincy and Tampa rounded out the top five.
* The Argos are now ranked third in the latest edition of the NCBWA South Region poll behind Tampa and GSC leader Mississippi College. UWF and Tampa were the only teams to receive a first-place vote.
* The Argos are currently tied with Mississippi College (27-13, 19-5 GSC) for most wins in the GSC. Second-place UWF sits one game back of Mississippi College for the conference lead. The Choctaws take on Delta State (31-10, 18-8 GSC) this weekend. All three teams have clinched conference playoff berths, and all three have a mathematical chance of winning the GSC regular season crown.

UWF SPLITS AT ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE

* UWF baseball split a doubleheader at Alabama Huntsville Saturday. The Argos dropped Game 1 7-6 in 11 frames before rebounding with 18 hits as part of an 11-4 Game 2 win. After rain canceled the first game of the series, the team's settled for a GSC set split.
* Andrew Vaccacio started on the mound in Game 2 and was brilliant. He struck out 11, just one off his season-high, in seven innings to move to 5-1 on the season. He did not allow an earned run.
