Evan Wyllie Added to Argonaut Basketball Staff

Wyllie was previously head coach at Frankfort Community HS

PENSACOLA, Fla. – University of West Florida men's basketball head coach Jeff Burkhamer has announced the addition of Evan Wyllie to his coaching staff. Wyllie joins the Argonauts from Frankfort Community High School in Illinois, where he led the Redbirds to a 21-11 record and won the Class 2A regional championship in his only season at the school.

"It is an honor and a privilege to join the UWF basketball family," Wyllie said. "I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Coach Burkhamer and Coach Benator and look forward to getting the Argos back to the top of ht eGSC. We have a beautiful school, terrific facilities, and a great opportunity to take Argo basketball to another level. It's an exciting time to be an Argonaut."

Prior to his time at FCHS, Wyllie was the head coach at Norris City-Omaha-Enfield High School, where he led the team to a conference championship and school records in three-pointers made in a game (19) and in a season (229). Wyllie also has three years of experience as a high school assistant coach.

Wyllie graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2010 with a degree in physical education and teacher education, while earning a minor in coaching. A Dwight, Illinois, native, Wyllie was a two-year starter for the Dwight Township HS basketball team, where he earned All-Area honors as a senior. He will work on a master's degree in educational leadership at UWF.

"We are excited about Evan Wyllie becoming a part of our basketball program at UWF," Burkhamer said. "Evan is an energetic, ambitious, and enthusiastic young coach. He has been a successful high school head coach in Illinois, so he will join our program with experience in a lot of areas. Evan will be involved with the individual development of our players, recruiting, team travel, film breakdown, and academics. We are happy to welcome Evan and his wife Rachel to the UWF basketball family."
