PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Argos will visit Montevallo, Alabama this weekend for its first Gulf South Conference action of the season. West Florida won its first series of the year last weekend taking two out of three against Rollins, improving to a 2-4 overall record.
First pitch for this weekend's series is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT. The series will conclude on Saturday with a double header beginning at 12:00 p.m. CT.

ARGOS TAKE SERIES WIN OVER ROLLINS
UWF baseball shutout Rollins in their home opener, defeating the Tars 3-0 on Friday night at Jim Spooner Field. The Argos' pitching was the storyline in the game with
Eric Keating going seven strong innings picking up the win and allowing only four hits.
West Florida finished on the wrong side of a pitching duel in game two of the series, losing 2-0 at Jim Spooner Field on Saturday afternoon.
Hunter Lucas had a strong performance in his first start of the year pitching seven innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits.
In the series finale UWF won 8-2 over Rollins on Sunday, scoring five runs in the first three frames.
Justin Dunnam,
Trevor Payne,
Bryant Harris Jr., and
Brooks Mitchell each had two hits on the day, and Dunnam and
Matthew Estrada had multiple RBIs – their first such games of the year. Estrada also extended his hitting streak to six games to begin the season.
SCOUTING MONTEVALLO
The Falcons are coming into this weekend's matchup with an overall record of 5-1. Montevallo swept Ohio Valley in their opening series and took two out of three against Trevecca Nazarene. The offense for the Falcons has scored double digits in three of their six games this season.
The Gulf South Conference projected the Montevallo Falcons to finish sixth in the conference in their annual preseason baseball poll that was released last month. UWF is 15-11 vs. Montevallo all-time and won the last three head-to-head matchups against the Falcons.
Montevallo has the second-best batting average (.312) and has scored the most runs (67) in the conference up to this point. The pitching for the Falcons has been the opposite as they rank 11
th in the GSC in ERA (5.24) and have issued the second most walks (31) in the league.
The Falcons' head coach, Chandler Rose, is in his tenth season accumulating a record of 244-216 since taking the helm of the program in 2011. Rose has led the Falcons to an NCAA Regional in 2018 and the Peach Belt Conference tournament championship game twice during his tenure.
