ARGOS SWEPT OPENING WEEKEND AT FLORIDA SOUTHERN
UWF baseball opened its 2020 season with a 5-0 loss at Florida Southern last Friday. The Argos were only able to muster up three hits on Friday night, with Justin Dunnam going 2-5 with two singles.

The Argonauts scored five runs in the third inning to take the early lead, but were unable to hold off the Florida Southern Mocs in the second game of the series losing 6-5. The Mocs scored all six of their runs off of home runs in the game, including a walk-off homer in the 10th inning.

In the series finale the Argos finished with seven hits, four errors and 10 runners left on base. Cullan O'Shea had the first homer of the year for UWF with a solo shot to right field in the second inning. He ended the day going 2-4 with a walk and 2 RBIs. Florida Southern broke the game open scoring 12 runs in the fourth inning, defeating UWF 15-6.

SCOUTING ROLLINS
The Tars are 2-1 so far this season. The team took on Spring Hill to open the season and won the final two games of the three-game series by a final score of 6-3 last Saturday and held them scoreless 3-0 on Sunday.

The Sunshine State Conference projected the Rollins Tars to finish tenth in the conference in their annual preseason baseball poll that was released a couple of weeks ago. UWF is 19-8 vs. Rollins and lost the previous two head-to-head matchups last season.

Rollins is coming off a 25-24 season, going 12-18 in sunshine conference play leading to a ninth-place finish in the conference.

The Tars offense batted .308 and scored 16 runs in their weekend series against the Spring Hill Badgers. Spring Hill was held to a batting average of .190 in the series. The team got excellent pitching though to power the two wins. The staff held the Badgers to just three runs in the two wins in the series, not allowing a run in the series finale.

The Tars' head coach, Jon Sjogren, is 366-352-3 since taking the helm of the program in 2006. He owns a career record of 725-657-5 over 27 years as a head coach between Rollins and Bryant University.
