West Florida was selected as the top team in the region after the squad went 34-9 during the year, capturing their first Gulf South Conference Tournament Title in 14 years in the process.  It is the eighth time in program history that UWF has made the NCAA Tournament and it marks the first time since the 2012 and 2013 seasons that the program has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons.

The NCAA South Regional begins on May 27-May 30 from Jim Spooner Field in Pensacola, Florida.  Four other GSC teams in Lee, Alabama Huntsville, Delta State and Shorter were named to the tournament, while Sunshine State Conference team, Tampa, was also selected.  Lee is the second seed, followed by Tampa, DSU, UAH and Shorter.

Game one of the tournament will begin on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the second game of the day following at 3 p.m. UWF will face sixth-seeded Shorter at 7 p.m. that night.  The regional is a double-elimination format.

O'Shea has provided power from the left-side of the plate as the Mobile, Alabama native has a team-high 14 doubles and 46 runs scored, while also tying for the team lead with eight home runs and is second with 41 runs drive in.  He is .335 with 58 hits on the year.  O'Shea and Menhennett were both named to the GSC All-Conference Team and the GSC All-Tournament Team.

Evan Floyd leads the Argonaut pitching staff as the Pensacola Catholic product leads the team in earned run average (2.59), wins (8), starts (14), innings pitched (87), strikeouts (92), opposing batting average (.19) and complete games (3).  A First-Team All-Conference Selection, Floyd was also second in the GSC in ERA, third in opposing batting average and innings pitched, fourth in strikeouts and second in wins.  Evan was also named as the GSC Tournament's most outstanding player.

Shorter, making the tournament for the first time in school history, comes into the tournament at 27-15.  The pitching staff is one of the best in the GSC as they lead the conference in combined strikeouts with 428.  Jonathan Pintaro, recently selected as the NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Year, is tied for the most strikeouts in Division II with 141.  Leading the league in wins with 10, Pintaro holds a 2.80 ERA and an opponent batting average of .174 in 93.1 innings pitched.  He was also chosen as the GSC pitcher of the year.
