HOOVER, Ala. – The 13th-ranked UWF women's volleyball team picked up two wins on Saturday, defeating Nova Southeastern and 17th-ranked Barry on the final day of the GSC/SSC Crossover at the Finley Center.
The Argonauts opened the morning with a 3-0 sweep of NSU before erasing a 2-0 deficit with a 3-2 won over the Bucs in the final match of the event.
UWF improved to 19-5 on the season and will return to Gulf South Conference play next week with a road trip to Union and Christian Brothers.
Against Barry,
Jenna Zydlo had 20 kills with a .667 hitting pct. and
Kierra Potts had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Avery Rodgers added 11 kills and
Taylor Vaneekeren dished out 50 assists to go with seven digs and six kills.
The Argos hit .261 in the match but .321 in the final three sets.
In the win over NSU, UWF hit .231 but was very solid on defense, holding the Sharks to a .110 pct. due to 52 digs.
The balanced offensive attack saw

Alex Oliver and
Avery Rodgers all post nine kills in the 3-set contest. Oliver added a pair of blocks and five digs.
In the three matches over the weekend, UWF had a .239 attack pct. and held its opponents to .170. The 13.5 kills per set ranked third in the tournament and their 16.1 digs per set was fifth.
