JACKSON, Miss. – Daniel Sofield and LaTrell Tate each had 20 points for UWF but the Argonauts fell to Mississippi College, 88-68, at Charles R. Rugg Arena on Saturday.
The game was moved to Belhaven University's facility after the roof at MC's A.E. Wood Coliseum started leaking.
UWF (3-3, 0-3 Gulf South) shot 49 percent and finished with nine 3-pointers, including five from Sofield and two apiece from Tate and Jared DeHart. Sofield and DeHart had four assists each.
MC (5-1, 2-1) was just as successful from the floor, finishing at 57 percent. Tredavis Thompson scored a career-high 27 on 8-of-12 and a perfect 7-of-7 from outside.
The Choctaws scored the first seven points in the contest and led 9-1 a few minutes in. The lead was extended to 15-4 before back-to-back threes from Sofield and DeHart pulled the Argos to within 15-10 nine minutes into the game. MC scored the next seven points to move its lead to 12 points at the midway point of the half.
MC led 46-27 at the break.
UWF will play at Delta State (0-5, 0-3) on Monday night. Tip-off at Sillers Coliseum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
