PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team prepares for action in Alabama for conference play. The nation's No. 21 ranked team will take on Montevallo, Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Auburn Montgomery on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m.

A Look Back to Last Weekend
UWF went 1-1 over the weekend and is 7-1-1 overall on the season. They began with a 5-0 win over Shorter. Five different Argonauts scored – four of which was their first of the season.

Emma Beltz scored her fourth goal of the season against the Hawks in the 10
th minute. That was her fourth consecutive game to score.

The 5-0 win was their largest margin of victory and fourth shutout this season.

The following game against Lee resulted in a 2-1 loss – the first loss of the season. Lee's win gave the team the sole number one spot in the GSC standings.

The team saw themselves down 1-0 early in the game but forward
Mya Swinton scored the equalizer to bring it to one-all. The Flames managed to score a game-winning goal in the 71
st minute that secured the win.

Swinton's seven total goals is tied for most in the conference with two other opponents. Swinton has the best goal average (.778) in the GSC. She still holds the most points (18) in the conference off four assists and seven goals.

After going 1-1 last weekend, the Argos sit at No. 4 in the GSC standings and dropped 17 spots in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings.

About Montevallo Falcons
Montevallo is 5-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in GSC. Their conference record places the team at eight in the standings.

The Falcons are on a two-game losing streak. They fell short by a one-goal differential to West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville.

Montevallo started off strong, going 3-for-4 in non-conference wins. They outscored their opponents 11-3 and tallied two shutouts in those opening four games. Â

Goalkeeper Emily Hounsell has made seven starts and leads the squad with 630 minutes. Hounsell has a .71 goal allowed average and a 0.839 save percentage off 26 saves with five goals allowed.

Argo vs. Falcon History
The Argos are 18-3-2 in all their meetings with the Falcons trailing back to 2000. The last loss came in 2019 in the GSC Tournament semifinals. UWF fell short in penalty kicks. The last 90-minute regulation loss was in 2007.

In 2022, the Argos secured a 5-1 victory. It was a top-two GSC contest, and the win allowed the Argos to secure the lone number one spot in the conference.

UWF scored five straight goals before the Falcons shorten the gap. The team scored two back-to-back goals within 30 seconds of each other and saw a 2-0 lead before the fourth minute of the game struck.

About AUM Warhawks
The Warhawks are 2-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the conference. They sit fourth from last in the GSC standings. Their single conference 5-0 win was against Shorter. Their second win was also a 5-0 victory against Albany State.

The Argos are a perfect 6-0 in all meetings with the Warhawks. The teams recently started battling each other in 2016.
