#4 UWF Head to Daytona Beach for Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

Embry-Riddle Set to Host First Two Rounds of NCAA

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- South Region's 4-seed UWF heads to Daytona Beach, Fla. to take on 5-seed Nova Southeastern in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium on Friday, Nov. 15.
 
1-seed Embry-Riddle is hosting the first and second round of the national championships. The winner of UWF vs. Nova Southeastern will take on the Eagles Sunday, Nov. 19 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Tickets for general admission are $10. Children 12 and under is $5.
 
Catch You Up on UWF
UWF hasn't seen competition since Nov. 4 after falling 1-0 in double overtime in the quarterfinals of the GSC Tournament. The loss put the team at a 15-2-1 overall record.
 
This is the program's 19th NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
UWF has the sixth-best goals against average (.384) in division II.
 
Looking for History to Repeat Itself
UWF and Nova Southeastern battled in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. UWF took a 2-1 victory to advance to the South Region Championship. Mya Swinton hit a goal in the 10th minute and Manami Okada tallied an assist that uplifted the Argos.
 
Following the win over Nova Southeastern, UWF met with Embry-Riddle in the South Region Championship (NCAA Third Round). The final resulted in a similar 2-1 victory thanks to Swinton and Okada who racked up a goal each. Additionally, Ahanlie Layman recorded the assist for the opening goal.
 
Eight players return from last year's starting lineup against Nova Southeastern and Embry-Riddle.
 
About Nova Southeastern Sharks
Out of the Sunshine State Conference, the Sharks are 10-4-1 overall and 7-3 in conference. They finished third in the conference and made an SSC Tournament appearance. The Sharks fell in double overtime in the quarterfinals match.
Nova Southeastern has scored 35 total goals and have held their opponents to 16. They average 15.8 shots per game and record .532 shots on goal percentage.
 
The Sharks are led by senior Luana Grabias. The forward has racked up ten goals and five assists. Four of the goals were game winners. In 13 games played, Grabias has recorded a point in nine of the contests. She hit a season-high four goal game over Palm Beach Atlantic in a 6-0 victory.
 
Grabias is followed by Tabea Schutt who totals 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Attackers Dani Correa and Sofia Suarez are third on the list with 14 points each.
 
Goalkeeper Stefane Rosa leads the team in the net. In 10 starts and appearances, the Brazil native has recorded 39 saves and is 8-1-1 on the season. Rosa has allowed a low five goals for 0.49 goals allowed average.
 
About Embry-Riddle Eagles
The Eagles have earned the 1-seed in the tournament for the second consecutive year. Embry-Riddle are 14-1-3 overall and finished first in conference with an 8-1-1 record. The Eagles took the Sunshine State Conference Tournament trophy after earning a pair of 1-0 wins in the semis and championship game.
 
Their single loss came from Florida Southern with a 1-0 final.
 
The Eagles have sunk 36 goals while holding their opponents to 12. They took a total of 239 shots with 112 hitting on frame. 28 of the 36 goals were assisted.
 
Senior our of Bergen, Norway leads the Eagles offense. Marie Myhrvold Seim has nine goals and three assists on the season for 21 points. She has scored three, two-goal games in 18 appearances and starts on the season.
 
Senior Isabelle Navren leads the team in assists with seven.
 
Oona Jokinen is the only goalkeeper to step on the pitch for the Eagles. She totals 1,620 minutes and has recorded 55 saves. With a 14-1-3 goalkeeping record, Jokinen has a 0.821 save percentage and 0.67 goals against average.
