PENSACOLA, Fla. --- After a weekend in Tennessee, the University of West Florida baseball team has a quick turnaround and will head to Mobile, Alabama for a single game Tuesday, Feb 28 at 5:00 p.m. against Spring Hill at Historic Sims-Galle Field.

This will be the second meeting of the teams. UWF took the first game 8-3 (Feb. 14). The third and final game between UWF and Spring Hill will take place at home field on Jim Spooner Field, April 4.

A Look Back Between UWF and Spring Hill This Season
Major Posey earned the win in an intentional 2.0 IP and allowed no runs or hits and totaled two strikeouts.
Jack Bellah followed with three pitched innings and
Jacob Estes closed and was awarded the save.

Jackson Grabksy,
Darrien McDowell and
Preston Moore led with two hits apiece and
Jadon Fryman scored three of the team's eight runs.

Through the first four frames, UWF scored all eight runs while holding Spring Hill to one. McDowell and
Mike Scordo finished with two RBI each.

A Look Back in Series Loss Over Union
UWF (8-4 overall, 1-2 GSC) had their first series loss by Union. They won Friday's game (Feb. 24) in an extraordinary 16-0 defeat that was finished in seven innings.
Dalton Neuschwander (3-0) earned the win after a six-strikeout game in 5.0 IP. In 21 batters faced, he allowed only two hits.

UWF managed to score a run in every inning. The team totaled 17 hits – six doubles were hit by five Argo players and McDowell hit a two-run homer.

Fryman,
Trent Jeffcoat and
Dean Hotz led with three hits each. Hotz went 3-for-4 and finished with two runs and two RBI.

Unfortunately, the momentum did not turn over to the following day and fell short 9-8 and 3-1 in the doubleheader and lost the series 2-1.

Scordo hit his first homerun of the season to get the Argos on the board first but the lead didn't last long as the Bulldogs scored seven runs over five innings and took a 7-1 lead. UWF did make their way back and scored the following seven runs and took the lead in the seventh inning but was not enough. Union had a hit that occurred in the eighth that sent two runs in to take the 9-8 win.

UWF was held to four hits in game two on Saturday. The lone Argo run occurred in the fourth. Hotz hit a double and sent Moore home who reached base on a fielder's choice.

The two losses were UWF's first conference losses.

Scouting the Spring Hill Badgers
The Badgers (5-7 overall, 4-2 SIAC) is coming off a 2-1 conference series loss against Savannah State. They took the first game 12-5 but was defeated 3-0 and 9-7 in the following games.

Logan Clark (2-1) earned the latest win. In 6.0 IP, Clark allowed six hits, two runs, and finished with three strikeouts and three walks in 24 batters faced. Overall, in four appearances and starts, he has a 4.40 ERA in 14.0 IP and holds his opponents to a .304 batting average.

Outfielder Jackson Bell is hitting a .286 average. In 42 at bats, he has 12 hits, a double, a triple, five homeruns and 16 RBI. He has also recorded 25 putouts and two assists.

McClure Norris, who is hitting a .283 average, leads with 13 hits. He tallies one double, triple and a homerun apiece. Infielder Seth Williams follows with a .282 batting average. In 39 at bats, he has totaled 11 hits and seven RBI. Â

UWF vs. Spring Hill History
UWF is 20-4 since 2007 and has a 5-3 away record. UWF and Spring Hill faced each other twice in 2022 and each team took home a win. Spring Hill took the first game, 6-3, and UWF took a 4-2 win in the second meet up.
