PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team (11-5 overall, 3-3 GSC) heads on the road to take on Alabama Huntsville in a three-game conference series.

Games will begin Friday, March 10 at 3:00 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 11 at 12:00 p.m., followed by a game 30 minutes after at Charger Park.

A Look Back Versus Delta State
* UWF won the series 2-1 against Delta State over the weekend.
* The Argos shutout The Statesmen 2-0 in game one and took game two in a 3-1 win. UWF lost the final game, 4-2.

* Game one: Both runs were scored in the first inning for the Argos.

Dalton Neuschwander got his fourth win of the season. He pitched eight innings and allowed no runs on five hits. Additionally, he tied his single game high of eight strikeouts.

Zack Stokes hit a single to left field. He then advanced to second base off a passed ball. Catcher
Mike Scordo sent Stokes home with an RBI single to outfield … The Argos capped the scoring in the seventh inning. Bases were loaded with Jeffcoat,
Darrien McDowell and Fryman. Jeffcoat and McDowell advanced to base on singles. Fryman advanced on a fielder's choice. Jeffcoat and McDowell were driven in by
Preston Moore for a two RBI single to stretch the lead 3-0 … The Statesmen scored their lone run in the ninth inning.

Kade Manderscheid threw a single game high seven strikeouts on 8.2 innings pitched. He allowed just one run on five hits …
Chase Wilkerson finished on the mound for the Argos and earned his fourth save.
* Game three: The Statesmen started the scoring in the fourth inning. They scored four runs on four hits. Three consecutive singles were knocked that allowed a run in. Delta State followed with a three-run homer to take a 4-0 lead.

Tyler Dowdy answered with a two RBI homerun in the bottom of the fourth to bring the score 4-2. That was his second homer of the season.

* The Argos moved down a spot and now sit a No. 8 in the South Region Ranking for the week.
* UWF sits at No. 7 in the GSC Standings with a conference percentage of .500.

Neuschwander Earns Weekly Honors
* Announced Tuesday morning by the conference, Neuschwander was named named Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week. This is his second weekly honor of the season.
* He was awarded the honor after defeating Delta State 2-0 (March 3). It was his fourth win.
* In eight innings pitched, he threw eight strikeouts while allowing no runs on five hits with only one walk. Neuschwander had a no hitter through five frames.
* He leads the conference with a 0.51 ERA while holding opponents to a .143 batting average.

UWF's Weekend Rotation
* The right hander out of Alabama will open Friday's game against the Chargers … In five starts, Neuschwander (4-0) has pitched 35.0 innings … The sophomore has allowed only 17 hits, five runs and tallied 32 strikeouts … His first start was a no-decision but his latest four games have resulted in wins.
* Beginning game one on Saturday is Manderscheid. The sophomore is 2-0 on the season with five appearances. His latest win occurred against Delta Sate off a 3-1 win. He pitched 8.2 innings. He allowed only five hits, two walks and struck out seven batters … Manderscheid has an 2.08 ERA (ranked 7
th in the GSC) and holds his opponents to a .196 batting average.
* Starting on the mound for the final game will be sophomore
Major Posey. The Florida native is 2-2 in five starts … He is ranked 10
th in the GSC for an ERA of 3.26 … His most recent outing was 3.1 innings pitched against Delta State … He recorded two strikeouts.

Scouting the Alabama Huntsville Chargers
* The Chargers (9-11 overall, 2-4 GSC) are coming off a series conference loss last weekend to No. 7 Montevallo and a non-conference 10-6 loss to Young Harris (March 7).
* Alabama Huntsville took two losses (5-0, 2-1) and won the final series game 8-5 to give the Falcons their second loss of the season. A single RBI by Garrett Bodine gave the Chargers the lone run in a 2-1 loss.
* Bodine also hit a solo homerun in the final game … The redshirt senior is hitting an average of .377 … He totals 29 hits, four doubles and a homerun.
* In game three, three total homeruns were hit along with a Carson Villalta single RBI. All homeruns were two RBI or more.
* Landon Ezzell leads the team with a .449 batting average. In 20 games, he has 35 hits and had four doubles and homeruns apiece. He also has 23 RBI.

* Since 2006, the Argos are 28-25 overall against the Chargers.
* The Chargers have a 11-9 edge in games on their home field.
* Last time the teams faced each other was in 2022 and the Argos took the series win 2-1 … They won the first two games but fell short 6-5 in the final matchup.
