ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Argos took on a challenging field of teams at the Lewis DII Crossover Saturday morning, placing 35
th out of 36 teams competing in the men's 8K.
The meet featured teams from all over the country, with the Argos squaring off against 12 ranked teams and a host of other talented squads from all the regions of DII cross country. It is the most ranked teams the Argos have ran against all season, including the most teams they have ran against overall.
Redshirt Senior
Zach Fenton once again recorded a top-10 program time for the third race this season, coming in 40
th place out of 339 runners with a 24:39.57 time. Fenton now owns the eight fastest times in program history, with his time at the Lewis DII Crossover placing seventh.
UWF saw three runners set season bests in Romeoville as well. Junior
Parker Nunley ran a season-best 26:28.83 8K time to place 260
th, cutting 30 seconds off his time set at the Belhaven Invitational.
Sophomore
Carson King finished just five seconds behind him at 26:33.31 for another season best, placing 263
rd and cutting 42 seconds off his season best at the UNA Invitational in the process.
Junior
Nathan Deboutez also set a season-best 26:49.5 8K time, cutting 45 seconds off his best time at the UNA Invitational and placing 278.
Freshman
Grant Chastain finished 299
th with a time of 27:05.82. Xander Mclaughlin raced again for his first time since the season opener at North Alabama, placing 335
th and recording a time of 29:00.24.
Cademon Galloway was the last runner to finish for the Argos at 338 and with a 30:51.59 time.
The Lewis University DII Crossover was the last regular season meet for UWF. Up next, the Argos turn their attention to the Gulf South Conference Championships in Clinton, MS. The Argos are familiar with the course at the GSC Championships, as they ran the Choctaw Trails at the Belhaven Invitational back on Saturday, Oct. 5 and placed fourth out of 16 teams.
