PENSACOLA, Fla. --- #8 UWF heads to Clinton, Miss. for a three-game conference series against Mississippi College. The team will open with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 with a single game on Sunday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. The series will take place at Frierson Field.

Recap vs. Alabama Huntsville

• UWF got their first conference sweep over UAH (March 2-3).
• UWF took a 5-3, 11-4 and 7-2 win.
• Game 1: McDowell opened with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Him and Jackson Grabsky led with two RBI each.
• Game 2: The Argos outhit the Chargers 13-7. Four Argonauts led with two hits each. Tyler Dowdy tallied one hit but grabbed three RBI off a three-run homer.
• Game 3: UWF scored six runs in two innings to take the win over UAH. Preston Moore led with three hits and Jadon Fryman recorded three RBI in two hits to lead the game.

McDowell Takes GSC Player of the Week

• Last week, the Pensacola, Florida native recorded 11 hits, a pair of doubles, a homerun and seven RBI.
• In game one over Columbus State (Feb. 27), McDowell hit a double and a single that both resulted in RBI hits.
• In the series opener against UAH (March 2), he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI to help uplift the team to a win.
• In game two, he racked up two more hits, scored two runs and recorded a pair of RBI to achieve another win that guaranteed a conference series victory.
• In the series finale, McDowell finished with a game-tying homerun that helped uplift his team to a sweep over UAH.
• McDowell totals six homeruns on the season. He is five home runs away from tying the career homerun record and eight away from tying the school record of most homeruns hit in a single season – which was set by himself in 2023.

 
Scouting Mississippi College Choctaws

• The Choctaws sit at No. 6 in the conference standings with a 10-6, 3-3 GSC record.
• Mississippi State has played a pair of three-game conference series. They took a 2-1 series victory over Alabama Huntsville and a 2-1 series loss to Auburn Montgomery.
• Most recently, the Choctaws are coming off a 13-8 single game victory over Arkansas-Monticello (March 6). Before that, the team took on their first ranked opponent of the season. They took a run-ruled, 14-1 loss to previously ranked No. 20 Southern Arkansas.
• Two players sit at a .400 batting average and above. Leading the group offensively is Wesley Sides with a .457 average. Drake Cole follows with a .404 average. They tally 21 hits and 17 RBI each.
• JT Vance leads the team with 23 hits.
• Starting pitchers Holland Townes, Austin Huggins and CJ Lofton sit together with four appearances and four starts. Townes leads the squad with a 4.81 ERA, 24.1 IP and 25 strikeouts.

Argo vs. Choctaw History

• The Argos are 18-3 over the Choctaws.
• The Argos grabbed a 2-1 series win over the Choctaws in the 2023 season. The latest game was a 5-4 win in favor of the Choctaws.
• Before the loss, the Argos were on an eight-game winning streak that trailed back to 2019. The streak was the longest in history between the programs.
