PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team faces North Georgia on the road for a pair of mid-week non-conference games Tuesday and Wednesday.

First pitch is scheduled for April 2 at 6:00 p.m. ET at Bob Stein Stadium. UWF will finish with a Wednesday game at 3:00 p.m.

The Argos (21-11, 13-5 GSC) are coming off a 3-1 week. UWF grabbed a 7-2 victory over Spring Hill (March 27) and a conference series win against Shorter (March 30-31).

Darrien McDowell set a program record in the Spring Hill matchup. In two at bats, McDowell hit a pair of two RBI homers that broke the career home run record. He passed
Cullan O'Shea (2020-22) and now sits at 26 home runs. Â

Dalton Neuschwander and the Argos opened the series against the Hawks with a Friday night win. Neuschwander pitched a complete game of nine innings to uplift the team to a 5-1 victory. UWF tallied five hits with
Mark Townsend leading the group with three RBI.

UWF continued the series with a Saturday double header. UWF with was down 7-3 heading into the eighth inning. The Argos made a 4-1 run in the final two innings to put themselves at a one-run deficit heading into the final inning. With loaded bases on two out, UWF scoring came to a close and the Argos fell a run short.

It was a strong offensively built game as each team tallied 12 hits apiece.

Jackson Grabsky and
Brett Rowell led with two hits each. Six different Argonauts accumulated the remaining six hits.

Jacob Heath recorded a season-high seven strikeouts on the mound.

UWF took back the reins and got an 8-3 win to complete the series. Kade Mandershceid started on the mound for UWF and improved his undefeated record to 7-0. In six innings pitched, he threw five strikeouts and held the Hawks to two earned runs on eight hits.
Chase Wilkerson stepped in to relieve in the final inning. He kept the Hawks to no hits and recorded two strikeouts.

The Argos scored three runs in the first inning and maintained the lead throughout the rest of the game.

Brett Rowell hit three singles to go 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI to lead the team. Additionally,
Preston Moore followed by going 2-for-2, scored two runs and tallied an RBI.

Scouting North Georgia Nighthawks (21-10, 10-5 PBC)
Phillip Ard leads North Geogia's offense with a .342 average. In 31 consecutive starts, Ard tallied 38 hits, 11 doubles, a triple and six home runs for 27 RBI.

Andrews Opata leads the team with 45 hits to follow Ard with a .326 average.

The Nighthawks have three starting pitchers that sit under a 4.00 ERA. Wes Lott leads the squad with a 3.44 ERA. He is 7-0 on the mound.

Dylan Noce leads with 55.2 innings pitched and records a 3.56 ERA in nine appearances and starts.

Argo vs. Nighthawk History
UWF has taken on the nighthawks for two consecutive season. The Argos are 1-3 since 2022. Overall, UWF is 13-18 over the Peach Belt Conference opponent.

Last season, UWF received two non-conference losses (8-9, 3-7). Townsend led the team with four hits. He capped his performance with a two RBI hit to tie the game at eight-all before the Nighthawks secured the game with an RBI hit in the ninth.

The Argos and Nighthawks were neck and neck through the first six innings. North Georgia went on a 7-1 run in the final three frames to take the win.
