PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team will take on Spring Hill in a non-conference single game in Mobile, Ala.

This will be the third and last meeting of the teams this season. UWF is currently 2-0 against the Badgers in 2024 so far.

UWF (24-16, 15-9 GSC) opened with an 8-4 win at Spring Hill's home turf (Feb. 20) and followed with a 7-2 victory at Jim Spooner Field (March 27).

About UWF
The Argos are coming off a three-game series against Montevallo. On the road, they loss the opening two matches but finished with an 8-1 win.

The weekend was led by
Darrien McDowell and
Trent Jeffcoat who racked up six hits apiece. McDowell tallied three RBI to lead the team. His RBI came from a pair of home runs (solo and two-run). McDowell surpassed last year's record-breaking home number of 14. Over the weekend, he broke his own program single season home run record that currently stands at 16 home runs.

Jacob Heath grabbed his first conference series opener start on the mound for UWF. He threw a strikeout in sixth consecutive innings in his six-inning performance. He threw eight total strikeouts. Despite getting the loss, held the Falcons to four hits – three of Falcon hits occurred in the sixth frame alone.

In the third game of the series
Chase Stanhope entered to pitch during the second inning and got the win. In 2.2 innings pitched, he allowed no runs on one hit.
Major Posey was awarded the save after pitching the final 1.2 innings. This was Posey's third save of the season.

Argos in the Rankings
UWF is ranked No. 4 in the GSC standings. Announced Monday afternoon, UWF is No. 8 in the NCBWA South Region poll.

The Argos sit behind one-seed Lee and two-seed Auburn Montgomery in the conference rankings. They will conclude the GSC regular season against the two programs.

Scouting Spring Hill Badgers
Since the last meeting with the Argos, the Badgers are 6-4. They have taken on four opponents that include three conference three-game series and a single non-conference matchup. Spring Hill has won two of the three series that includes one sweep.

The Badgers are on a two-game win streak after taking a 2-1 series win over Kentucky State (Apr. 13-14). After opening with a series opener loss (5-14), Spring Hill fired two victories (17-4, 15-5).

Their final game went into extra innings. Spring Hill shot 11 runs in the 10
th inning to take a wild 15-5 triumph. A grand slam by Jackson Bell occurred in the final inning that helped put the Badgers on top.

Offensively, Bell is fourth on the list for the team with a .321 average. He is second on the team in home runs (7). Leading the pack is redshirt senior Ethan Valdez. With a .355 average, he sits at the top with 49 hits.

Starting pitcher Michael Racobaldo leads the pitching squad with a 3.35 ERA. He leads with 51 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched. Evan Langston tallied the most time on the mound with 55.1 innings pitched. At a 4.88 ERA, he is 5-3 on the mound with 46 strikeouts to his name. Langston holds his opponents to a .250 batting average.
