VALDOSTA, Ga. – For the second-consecutive day, the No. 39 UWF women's golf team handled its business with efficiency and extended its lead in the Gulf South Conference Championship to nine shots entering the final round.
UWF's 299 was the low round of the day at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club and pushed its team total to 596. No. 15 Lee remains in second place following a 306.
The Argonauts made 10 birdies as a team and played the back nine at 4-over-par as they stretched their margin at the turn from three to nine shots.
Sophomore Isabella Yu Lee and junior Alia Scotka led the Argos with 1-over-par 73s. Yu Lee made three birdies on the front nine as she moved up five spots into second place overall at 148. Scotka is a shot back and they are both chasing Lee's Supuschaya Srichantamit, who followed her 69 with a 76 on Monday for a 145 total.
Sophomore Millie Thompson and senior Kate Kenthack are also in the top 10 for UWF. Thompson is in seventh at 151 and Kenthack is tied for eighth at 152.
In a new rule instituted by the league this season, teams can substitute a sixth player prior to the start of any round during the championship. Head coach Kristen Dorsey inserted Alexandra Seppanen on Tuesday and the senior shot a 75.
The Argos are looking to win their league-record 12th team title on Wednesday.
UWF, Lee and Montevallo, who sits in third place, will be paired together for the second-straight day on Wednesday. The first groups of their pairings will begin off No. 10 at 10:10 a.m. Eastern time.
