Box Score DAHLONEGA, Ga. --- The University of West Florida baseball team grabbed a game two non-conference win over North Georgia to split the mid-week series 1-1.

UWF improves to 22-12 overall.

North Georgia scored a run in the opening frame that was responded by UWF in the second.
Jackson Grabsky led off the second inning with a hit. He later scored an unearned run to bring the score to 1-1.

UWF outhit the Nighthawks 2-1 from the third through fifth inning to stay at a 1-1 score till the sixth inning.

In the sixth frame,
Dean Hotz hit an RBI bunt to give UWF a glimmer of a lead. North Georgia responded with a two-run homer in the bottom half to gain a 3-2 lead.

Tyler Dowdy stepped to the plate for his first appearance of the game in the eighth inning. UWF opened the inning with back-to-back hits before Dowdy came in to pinch hit. Dowdy brought the game to a 3-3 tie on an RBI outfield single that brought Grabsky in to score his second run of the game. UWF continued with a fielder's choice and a walk put two runners on base.
Darrien McDowell brought both Argonauts home on a two RBI double to take a 5-3 lead. McDowell led the offensive, going 4-for-4 that included three doubles.

The Nighthawks shortened the Argos gap by one after scoring an unearned run on two outs.

Now at a 5-4 lead entering the final inning, Hotz grabbed his second RBI of the day on an outfield single to give a two-run gap between them and the Nighthawks.

North Georgia brought in a run to bring the score to 6-5 but reliever
Chase Wilkerson and the Argos got the third and final out to take the win. Wilkerson threw the final two innings and recorded four strikeouts.

Caidan Peeples started on the mound for UWF and tallied three strikeouts. In his opening five pitched innings, he held the Nighthawks to four hits.

Up next, UWF heads back to Pensacola to resume GSC play against Union for a three-game series on Friday-Saturday.
