Argos Open GSC Championships Against Delta State

GSC Championships will be held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team grabbed the six seed in the GSC Championships that will take place at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. The eight-team double elimination tournament will be held May 3-7. UWF will open the tournament against 3-seed Delta State Friday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m.
 
The defending GSC Tournament champions grab their 19th conference tournament appearance.
 
TICKET/PARKING: General admission will be $10/day, children 5 and under are free. Online/contactless ticketing option will be available, more information to follow. Parking will be $5/day, cash only.

ABOUT UWF
The Argos concluded the regular season with a .574 overall winning percentage on a 27-20, 17-13 GSC record.
 
The team is offensively led by junior Darrien McDowell with a .431 batting average. He leads the team in hits (75), doubles (14), home runs (20) and RBI (63). He is tied for most home runs in Division II. The Pensacola, Fla. native also leads the conference with a .856 slugging percentage and a .545 on base percentage.
 
Jadon Fryman follows with a .361 average. In 40 starts, he's grabbed 56 hits and 10 doubles. He is one of three Argonauts who's recorded a triple. Trent Jeffcoat follows McDowell with 62 hits. With a .337 offensive average, Jeffcoat's shot 13 doubles, a pair of triples and 23 RBI. He leads the team with 18 stolen bases.  
 
The 3.29 ERA recorded by Kade Manderscheid leads the pitching squad. He is 7-3 on the mound in 11 starts. He's allowed a team-low 25 earned runs while throwing a team-most 60 strikeouts.
 
Starting pitcher Jacob Heath holds a team-best .257 opponent batting average. He follows Manderscheid with 58 strikeouts and a 3.39 ERA. The junior is 6-5 on the mound in 18 appearances and nine starts. Dalton Neuschwander records a 3.98 ERA while leading the group with 74.2 innings pitched. He's thrown 50 strikeouts and holds his opponents to a .262 offensive average.
