NCBWA All-American List
Wingate, N.C. – Darrien McDowell of the UWF Baseball Team was named as an NCBWA First-Team All-American, the organization announced.

Jack Hines of Augustana was named the player of the year while Skylar Gonzalez of Tampa was the pitcher of the year. Head Coach, Joe Urso, of Tampa was the coach of the year.  McDowell was one of only four players from the south region to be on the first-team list.

McDowell joins Greg Pron (2011) as the only position players in school history to be named as a first-team All-American by the NCBWA and becomes the first Argonaut since Jordan DeLorenzo in 2014, to earn first-team All-American honors. Â He was previously named as the NCBWA and D2CCA South Region Player of the Year and the GSC Player of the Year.

A product of Pensacola, Florida, McDowell leads all of Division II in home runs (27), slugging percentage (.902) and total bases (194).  Additionally, he ranks inside the top 10 nationally in runs scored (77), runs batted in (77), hits (95), batting average (.442) and on-base percentage (.565).

The first baseman produced one of the greatest single-seasons in program history as he now holds the school records for a single-season in hits, home runs, walks (53), slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs, runs batted in and total bases.  Also, McDowell is now the program's career leader in batting average (.400), slugging percentage (.769), on-base percentage (.517) and home runs (41).
