INDIANAPOLIS - UWF men's tennis (17-5, 8-1 GSC) has earned the No. 5 seed in the NCAA D2 South Regional on the campus of host No. 1 seed and conference rival Valdosta State, the NCAA announced Monday night in its bracket reveal.
The Argos will have their hands full, as they take on No. 4 seed Barry (14-6, 4-3 SSC). The Bucs are the four-time defending national champions, though they are having a down year by their standards, finishing third in the stacked Sunshine State Conference behind Saint Leo and Rollins.
The Argos enter the national tournament as GSC regular season champions, only losing to one conference rival along the way in Mississippi College and defeating the eventual tournament champion Valdosta State. As the top seed in the GSC Championship, the Argos dropped another match to the Choctaws in an upset to the No. 5-seed in the semifinals.
This season marks the 27th straight in which UWF has made the national tournament field.
