Pensacola, Fla. – Rafael Esteves earned Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and Kendrick Hernandez won GSC player of the week for the week of October 7, the league office announced Tuesday. The recognition marks the first GSC weekly award for Esteves and Hernandez in 2025.

Kendrick Hernandez earned player of the week. Hernandez scored five goals and one assist, tallying 11 points, helping West Florida go 3-0 and earn six points towards the GSC standings. Hernandez scored one goal in his 72 minutes played in a 2-0 win against Lee. Hernandez also recorded a hat trick in 23 minutes during a 4-0 win against Trevecca Nazarene. While playing a total of 164 minutes across the three matches.

Rafael Esteves earned defensive player of the week. Esteves played 194 minutes across three games, and helped West Florida earn six points in GSC play. Esteves registered two assists, one in a 5-0 against Pensacola Christian and one in a 4-0 win against Trevecca Nazarene. Esteves also helped the Argonauts backline secure three shutouts.

The Argos will take on Auburn Montgomory on October, 10 at 7:30 p.m.
