PENSACOLA, Fla. – A cold shooting second half for the Argos led to a 60-57 loss to Gulf South Conference foe West Alabama on Saturday evening.
UWF shot 8-of-26 (30%) from the field in the second half in what was a low scoring half for both teams. The Argos scored 22 points in the second half. UWF held the halftime lead 35-33 but after the Tigers hit a 3-pointer to open the second half the Argos never saw the lead again. A 3-pointer by
Ryan Payne with 5:11 remaining tied the game at 54-54 and then UWF tied the game again at 56-56 but the Argos were unable to capture the lead.
After the Tigers hit a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left to go up three the Argos were unable to get a clean look on their final possession and
Aric Demings shot was off target.
Anthony Igiede scored 17 points to lead West Florida.
The Argos (6-3, 0-2 GSC) will host St. Leo on Tuesday in the athletics fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m.
